They make an excellent point in that after the British Empire defeated the Ottoman Empire the Brits carved up the middle east and modern day Syria, Iraq and nations that they mention were "created" so, their contention is that Israel, based on the treaties mentioned in the article, have as much right to not only East Jerusalem but the West Bank as well. Very compelling argument but not sure it will hold muster in this climate.<br /> Also, it is interesting that Istanbul (then Constantinople) was the capitol of the Ottoman Empire....could that be why Turkey is now rattling their sabers at Israel now?
