   i've never heard anyone else with this particular thought regarding the strongman

   i was sitting outside and thinking on the strongman and the stronghold - what is the difference when i realized that the strongman is the one protecting the house, and we are the house.
   what if in order to stop a person from being what God has called them to satan binds the person up so that he can then prevent them from doing the work of God?
   so if satan - who is the thief wants to rob the house what would he do to the person
   he would first bind up the one protecting the person who stands guard against satans attacks, then he would be free to wreak hovac upon the person

   what makes this so different to me is that this is the exact opposite to any teaching i have ever heard on this topic - id always been taught the strongman was satan and that we had to bind satan - but in this description it is the thief coming in to rob the house
   and satan IS the THIEF - Jesus woud never be described as a thief so why has it always been interpreted in this way?

   if anyone else has a thought on this perhaps share, but this is the only way these scriptures now make any sense to me -

   read who the thief is...the scripture EVERYONE quotes about the thief coming for not but to steal, kill and destroy is ACTUALLY talking about reprobate shepherds, about pastors and leaders who do not take care of their flock. I might add, with no disrepect intended

   Of course Jesus is a ‘thief’.

   In Luke 11 we have two strong men. The biggest strongman is of course Jesus

   17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.
   18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
   19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.
   20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
   21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:
   22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
   23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

   Jesus has made the ‘spoil’ at the Cross :

   having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of
   them openly, triumphing over them in it [Colossians 2:15]

   Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. [Eph 4:8]

   The message of the Cross , with the conviction of the Holy Spirit is what makes captives free, translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of the good great and beloved Shepherd..

   at one point, I was bound so tightly by the devil that I couldn't do anything for God. In fact, I hated God and wanted nothing to do with Him until I was about 24... (I'm 32 now).
   I could write a volumn about all of the discord that our enemy sowed in my life. However, I could also write a volumn about how God has used all of those things to shape me into the man I am today and equip me for the things He has for me to do.
   I have seen many, many people over the years in the world and in the church that are not able to serve God because they haven't been broken yet. They are still so full of themselves and their pride that even when they try to minister to others, they end up hurting and damaging them more.
   An interesting thought here... the Greek word used for "mending" nets (Matt 4:21) is the same word used in Eph 4:12 for "equipping" the saints for the work of the ministry (equipping is a lousy translation in my opinion). It was used by the ancient physician Galen in reference to setting a bone during surgery. Notice how at the beginning of the ministry the disciples were not able to haul their catch to land because their nets were "being torn". After 3 1/2 years with the Master, they were able to bring the catch to shore and their nets did not break.
   I pray that we would all as the body of Christ seek God in our broken areas, be humble enough to acknowledge our brokenness and real enough with each other to talk about it so we can be healed and restored.
   Nobody, I'd encourage you to keep contemplating and studying. I think you're on to something good :)

   Problem is, most of us try to "doctor " our own wounds, which makes them heal incorrectly , much like a bone that is not set properly. Therefore, nothing we do functions entirely as it should. We may be inflexible, subject to extraordinary pains which would not even affect someone else. Most of us hardly recognize the real roots of our infirmities. Most of us act and react under the parameters of our mishealed injuries. Sometimes,the best revelation that Lord gives me is the LOCATION and SOURCE of an old wound. THEN He can come in, and it can be broken (re-Broken) and set properly.
