SHOCKING VIDEO- “Nigeria’s Millionaire Preachers” -COMMENTS?

This “Prosperity” teaching is running rampant around the world – on a scale you cannot even imagine. Take a look below-

“Nigeria’s Millionaire Preachers” with Seyi Rhodes from Sahara Reporters on Vimeo.

I have to say I hesitate to highlight this video, but I feel it is too
important to pass by. It is about the absolute Epidemic of “Prosperity”
teaching that is so damaging the church in Third World countries –
particularly in the bigger cities. In the case of this video it is Nigeria
that is highlighted. But this disease has already spread through
much of African Christianity, South America, and Asia as well
(Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Phiippines, and on and on). I
have seen this for myself in visiting these continents. It is a
disease that has now spread through Charismatic Christianity
worldwide to such a degree that I personally despair of what can
ever be done to arrest it.

The video was not made by Christians, and clearly they are
struggling a little to understand what they are seeing. But the
saddest thing of all is that the presenter seems to know more
about the “true Jesus” in the end than the ‘Prosperity’ preacher
does. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Comments, anyone?

  1. Very sad! In the video this pastor is saying “God is a game” I am shocked. I shouldn’t be but I am. I just don’t understand why we have so called ministers pimping out the gospel.

Several years ago I went to Uganda and I remain in contact with a Pastor there who longs, desires to have a big church like what we see in this video. I told him to not look at the American church model to model his church after.

  2. Can confirm this in South Africa. I work closely with many pastors and churches in our Eastern Cape sprawling, poor, largely black African communities. The prosperity teachers and churches in our area are stealing from the poorest of the poor! I have witnessed it with my own ideas.

  3. Sorry!! last phrase meant to read ‘own eyes!’

  4. This makes me so angry and so sad. ….

  5. The Bible also holds the Christians responsible. If the Christians did not want this kind of lie, these evil Imposters could not make a cent! But God’s people are fed lies, and the Bible says that “God’s people love it so.” If they have a bible then God holds them responsible…those who listen to the lies and those who preach the lies. Most are not the True Church of the Living God anyway! Sinners love to sin and are greedy for gain, and so they love the lie! No different than those who run into Casinos. It really is the same thing……only difference is that one has the title of “Christian.” Straight is the gate and NARROW is the WAY that leads to life everlasting, and FEW there be that find it! Those who are REALLY the Saints will follow the TRUE SHEPHERD….and will recognize His voice and His alone! It is just plain lust and greed at it’s ugliest in this video! But then they are really just sinners and sinners do what they do best…sin!!
“And on that day many will come to me…Jesus said…and call Me Lord, Lord, and I will say to them, depart from me ye workers of iniquity, I NEVER KNEW YOU!”

  6. how deceived we are and we export deception to the poor. I can only think of one thing…. we need to repent !

Can’t access video, but i know what u’re talking about cos i’m a nigerian and a christian……… what i do know and believe is that The Almighty God will purge His church with fire. The fire is coming no mistaking it! Luke12:49 and the word of God will prevail Acts 19:20.

  8. Heartbreaking.

  9. Shocking, tragic and totally false but God is greater and vengeance is His. He will have His way. Let’s keep focussed on Jesus the author and perfector of our faith who for the joy set before Him suffered the shame of the cross. Let’s pick up our cross daily and follow Him. He alone is our satisfaction.

  10. I brought dozens and dozens of Bible teaching books with me to Ethiopia 15 years ago and while there visited a Lutheran, Presbyterian, and a Pentecostal church to offer them to the Pastors to use/give to their congregation to build them up in the Word. NOT ONE of them wanted anything to do with these sound Biblical training books. BUT I was told “BE GLAD TO TAKE ANY MONEY YOU WANT TO GIVE”.
Couldn’t be more clear than that–don’t need any tools for sound Bible instruction of the congregation but please give me a lot of money. I only gave a few of the books away to individuals myself but ended up bringing almost all of the books back to the USA because I COULDN’T FIND HARDLY ANYONE WHO WANTED BOOKS ON BASIC BIBLE DOCTRINE.

  11. It is truly sad but we know who have taught them – they have seen it work so well in the USA – perhaps the peddlers from around here are just a little bit more sophisticated.

  12. This is not uncommon in African churches. I have done mission trips to Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe. I see this sort of behaviour on a slightly smaller scale in all of these countries including my own (South Africa). People are desperate and when someone comes along to offer them health and wealth they cling onto it. This is one of the reasons why cults are thriving in African countries, because they offer the same thing. I strongly believe and practice that the true gospel message of repentance needs to be taught. Too many people come to Jesus because they think he will make them rich and healthy overnight, this is what I have seen and what good pastors, especially in Zimbabwe are struggling with.
    May God bless you.

The thing about the prosperity teaching is that it runs a course. In the end it gets exposed for what it is. Now remember that this originated in North America and just about all got caught up in it but now it is being rejected and the people that taught it exposed for the frauds that they are.

Unfortunately it has left a lot of causalities along the way.

But the worse part here is that this is sweeping the third world just before the Islamic onslaught is about to hit and they are not going to have the time to work out where they stand in all this. In other words they are being set up for the slaughter.

The very best I can suggest is that you write articles and preach sermons that cast doubt on the prosperity teaching. Point out that if wealth = holiness then the Mafia must be saints. Or point out that the original Apostles that actually wrote the bible did not live the victorious lifestyle of divine prosperity but the power of God was manifested through them to raise the dead. Make it obvious that the only ones getting rich are the preachers.

Below is something I put together some time back. You just put the same thing together but taylor it to the specific audience. All you really have to do is teach what Mammon is.

With all the false teachings that have surfaced over the last couple of decades it is obvious that many do not understand the meaning of or the implications of Mammon.

Mammon is worldly wealth in the form of prestige, power and material accumulation. The pursuit of wealth and power is the pursuit of mammon. One of the more common quotes on this subject is the one below.

Luk 16:13 No servant can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. [/quote]

Now in that verse Jesus is not laying down some new law. He is simply explaining things the way they are. When you get right down to it our economic system is designed in such a manner that you cannot watch out for the bottom line and be obedient to Godly principles of love and giving at the same time. Somewhere along the line you have to make a choice to go for the money or remain faithful to God.

The fact is that our economic system is designed in such a way that the good guys will inevitably finish last and those that want to come in first no matter what will have to leave their godly principles behind so as to beat out the competition. The higher up the ladder you go in the worlds system the more you will have to exploit your fellow man and stretch the truth in order to accumulate wealth. Get enough of it and you may even stand a chance in politics where there is some real power to go along with it.

Now that leaves us in a bit of a problem. We want to pursue the things of God and lay up for ourselves some treasures in heaven but at the same time we have out of necessity to engage in worldly mammon in order to live. So the question is, How do we handle this. Well the first thing is to identify what belongs to the kingdom of God and what Belongs to the kingdom of this world in the form of mammon. The moment the two get mixed up everything gets corrupted.

Now Jesus did point out that there is a conflict of interest involved when dealing with mammon while attempting to also walk in the spirit. But he also pointed out that you need make a decision regarding which you want to serve. We do have two masters over us but we get to choose which we want to honour and which we want to despise.

However Jesus also gave some very good advice on how to handle the situation. And it is found in the context of the first verse quoted which is reproduced below.

Luk 16:9 And I say to you, Make friends by the mammon of unrighteousness for yourselves, so that when you fail, they may receive you into everlasting dwellings. Luk 16:10 He who is faithful in the least is also faithful in much. And he who is unjust in the least is also unjust in much.
Luk 16:11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust the true riches to you?
Luk 16:12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who shall give you that which is your own?
Luk 16:13 No servant can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Luk 16:14 And being money-lovers, all the Pharisees also heard all these things. And they derided Him.
Luk 16:15 And He said to them, You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. [/quote]

Now right off the batt Jesus acknowledged that as far as our dealings with mammon are concerned we are probably going to fail as the doors of the world will tend to be closed to us. But he also cautioned that we are to deal faithfully with it as in a trust worthy manner.

But what Jesus also pointed out was that while you have it use it to make friends and alliances so that you will not be an offence to any and they will be willing to help you in the future in times when you will inevitably need the help. That way by remaining true to your Godly principles you will still be rewarded in other ways when the mammon of the world fails you.

  14. Africa has taking the American Prosperity Gospel, and run with it a thousand times further. Africa lacks sound gospel preachers to hold these charlatans accountable.

  15. I´m sad and angry b`cos christianity in this country is in a total mess. If this is the nonsense, disrespect and dishonour to the NAME OF CHRIST the churches are offering to people, then God should have mercy on nigeria. Anytime God´s people, the jews stubbornly disobeyed God and refused to listen to Him, God used the heathen and wicked nations (babylon, assyria etc) to punish them. I believe the evil activities of Boko Haram especially against the church in recent times is a wake – up call to the body of Christ in nigeria.

Let`s intercede for the church in nigeria and other parts of the world that nothing but the TRUE GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST would be preached.

Actually Jason Africa has had the lions share of missionaries. I know what I am talking about here I am originally from Zimbabwe

Its the export of American culture through the movies that did the damage. America had the money to promote its gospel and all the work done before was just swept away.

  17. There are many aspects to this situation, most of which are either the flesh or the devil, but some of which is also people calling on the name of the Lord Jesus.

One aspect is, I think, much of the thought and attitudes of western world, and what we take for granted, has grown from its Judeao/Christian heritage.
Much of the rest of the world (which is most of it) has not had this tradition, and I do know from personal experience that in many quarters, as long as it is reasonably comfortable and exciting to go along with it, people really do tend to believe what they want to believe and that this is an acceptable way of life.
More recently, as the West is denying its Judaeo/Christian historical influence, this attitude is becoming increasingly apparent in the West, too.

It is part of the problem of engaging in any play-acting, too. This something I have long had a problem with in the Church, going back to the early 1970s when I first asked Jesus to be my Saviour. The whole thing of having to pretend to believe something.
This has caused me problems with “leading people to the Lord” and I have always preferred to tell them to really and honestly to ask the Lord Jesus what is true and real – to give them a personal answer – and leave it more or less at that, after telling them about what Jesus did on the cross.

Yes it is sad. And the truth (about the miracles for instance) should be established.
The power of God does not require marketting teams! But “Fireman” may have had the presence of God working through him at times. We are all battling the flesh. No doubt there are good things in him and he may even be doing some good amidst the damage.

Those who call on the name of the Lord Jesus in all honesty may well experience deliverance in these meetings.

Someone getting rich or not is a side issue to the real issue, which is obedience to the Lord, whatever He directs.

Excellent video, very disturbing, but not surprising. Seyi Rhodes’ attitude is respectful, humble, focussed, the presentation, direct and informative. The fallout will be huge. Let’s pray the Lord brings genuine Gospel preachers to these much needed slaughter houses and repentance of greed and lust for wealth and power. It is good to be sober and alert. Intelligent comments here.

  20. It is sad that we have projected our ‘brand’ of North American Christianity to a third world nation, that is hungry to be free from poverty and sickness. I agree with John B. The prosperity of the people is a side issue. It is so true that God prospers his people, but human greed, and pride and desire for riches has the ability to shipwreck true faith. This looks much like a church I attended a few years back. The same issues were seen there, as are depicted in this video. The church is not an organisation, or a business, she is a living breathing organism. To say she is a business, would make her a prostitute. You can see the true nature of these ‘churches’ when you see security beating people up like a group of thugs, and hiding financial information. It is not the fact that we cast out devils, or heal the sick in Jesus name that makes us Christians,( although don’t get me wrong this is all part of it), it is that Jesus knows us, and we know him. This changes who we are on the inside. If there are no changes from when we were in the world, we need to ask if we truly know the biblical Jesus. Jesus himself said that many would say to him ‘Lord, Lord, did we not do many mighty works in your name, and in your name cast out devils, and he would say to them, away from me, I never knew you, you workers of Lawlessness.

The very scripture that this false teaching in part began in my area (USA) was the portion about Jabez, in l Chronicals concerning the descendants of Judah, in l Chron 4:9 up pop’s the story of Jabez. One Christian friend called it Jabez, grab, and run.

Yet if the prayers and story of Jabez were closely related to the teachings of Christ and the New Testament, the sorry truth of this Jabez story becomes apparent.

John Piper also on YouTube gives a good rebuke to this foolishness (see below link):

I am an American who married a Nigerian man almost 9 years ago. We have been living there for almost 3 years now & what you showed is one of the MANY reasons we don’t go to a church gathering there.
Often, marriage ceremonies will also be apart of a church service & for that reason my husband & I rarely go to wedding for even our close friends & family. The last time we did I sat in my seat & wept, crying for God to have mercy on His people. We left feeling so sick.

Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Heb 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Heb 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Php 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

    Contentment by William Cowper

    (Phillipians, iv.11)

    Fierce passions discompose the mind,
    As tempests vex the sea,
But calm, content and peace we find,
When, Lord, we turn to Thee.

In vain by reason and by rule
    We try to bend the will;
For none but in the Saviour’s school
    Can learn the heavenly skill.

Since at His feet my soul has sate,
    His gracious words to hear,
    Contented with my present state,
I cast on Him my care.

“Art thou a sinner, soul?” He said,
    “Then how canst thou complain?
How light thy troubles here, if weigh’d
    With everlasting pain!

“If thou of murmuring wouldst be cured,
    Compare thy griefs with mine!
Think what my love for thee endured,
    And thou wilt not repine.

“‘Tis I appoint thy daily lot,
    And I do all things well;
Thou soon shalt leave this wretched spot,
And rise with me to dwell.

“In life my grace shall strength supply,
    Proportion’d to thy day;
At death thou still shalt find me nigh,
    To wipe thy tears away.”

Thus I, who once my wretched days
    In vain repinings spent,
Taught in my Saviour’s school of grace,
    Have learnt to be content.

    Contentment by Eugene Field

Happy the man that, when his day is done,
Lies down to sleep with nothing of regret—
The battle he has fought may not be won—
    The fame he sought be just as fleeting yet;
Folding at last his hands upon his breast,
Happy is he, if hoary and forespent,
He sinks into the last, eternal rest,
Breathing these only works: “I am content.”

But happier he, that, while his blood is warm,
See hopes and friendships dead about him lie—
Bares his brave breast to envy’s bitter storm,
    Nor shuns the poison barbs of calumny;
And ‘mid it all, stands sturdy and elate,
Girt only in the armor God hath meant
For him who ‘neath the buffetings of fate
Can say to God and man: “I am content.”

    Art of Divine Contentment:

EL CAJON, Calif. (BP)–At some point, we all get caught up in our own misguided attempts to find peace and contentment by working ourselves to death.

Reminds me of the tycoon who encountered a fisherman just soaking in the sunset.

“Why aren’t you out fishing?” the tycoon asked.

“Cause, I’ve caught all the fish I need for today.”

“Well, why don’t you go out and catch more? Make a profit, buy a bigger boat, hire more men, become wealthy. Then you could just sit and watch sunsets.”

“What do you think I’m doing now?”

We were created by God to be content in our knowledge of Him and the world He provided, as Genesis suggests our first parents were. But when Satan tempted them with the possibility of becoming more than they were created to be — becoming as wise as God — the idea of being just a plain, content, human creature was no longer satisfying.

Ever since, man has been on a search for contentment. Augustine got it exactly right when he said, “You have made us for yourself and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in You.” True contentment only comes when we reconnect with God through His Son Jesus Christ.

Let’s face it — it’s a challenge to stay contented these days. Physically, we know we’re not one of the “beautiful people” (but would love to be). Emotionally, we live lives of stress, hard work, dirty diapers and bills to pay (but wish we didn’t). Materially, we’re afraid we’re never gong to “move on up to the East side and finally get our piece of the pie” (but wish we would). And spiritually we feel guilty for not being satisfied physically, emotionally or materially. It’s a vicious circle.

I’m not rehearsing the evidence of our discontent to make us feel bad. I’m doing it to point us in the direction of true contentment.

I believe the most complete passage in Scripture on this subject is Philippians 4:10-20. The amazing reality about this passage on contentment is that Paul wrote it while in prison for his faith. Here’s his key thought: “… I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content … [for] my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (verses 11, 19).

Contentment is learned behavior. We learn to be content like babies learn to walk. And such an unnatural disposition is only by supernatural grace. With a spouse, good friend or small study group, you must learn to resist, in the power of the Holy Spirit, the discontentment of our age, or you will be swept up in it and live an agitated life.

Contentment is not dependent on circumstances. If Paul can learn to be content regardless of circumstance, we can, too. The same Holy Spirit who indwelt him indwells us. The same fruit of the Spirit — peace and self-control — that were manifest in his life can be manifest in ours.

Discontent desires more — bigger, better, faster, newer, more comfortable. That is deception. If you are not content in challenging circumstances, the contentment you think you feel in other circumstances is not contentment but simply your satisfaction that things are momentarily the way you think they should be.

Contentment is a state of being, not a state of doing. Our flesh only feels content when we are doing. Being, however, does not end — it is not tied to activity. Paul said he had learned to “be content,” not “do contentment.”

Contentment is based on the riches of God in Christ Jesus. The Bible says that everything we need to complete our journey from earth to heaven will be supplied by God. Therefore, everything we feel discontented about is likely not something we need in order to make and complete that journey.

There’s nothing wrong with possessing things. But there is something wrong if we can’t be content without them. May God speak to your heart and help you seek, and find, contentment in Him.

This is heart breaking – I remember a pastor in America who used the passage of scripture that talks of Jesus becoming poor that we might be rich to fleece one of the poorest congregations I have ever seen and guess what – the people loved to have it so.
This is preying upon people desperate in their circumstances and it is growing every day.
This is why we need to stop the tides of Biblical iliteracy sweeping through the church.
This is why we need more theology and less theatrics.
THis is why we need good expositional teaching and less tall tales and soppy stories.
    But one fine day…

  27. Anthony Jan 26th 2012

I went home yesterday morning after work, exhausted as usual, and surprisingly I found myself falling upon my bed sobbing into my hands, my face breaking suddenly into what felt like a hundred creased up lines of utter despair, there were no words, only groans and sobbing, perhaps it was a prayer, perhaps it was only pain and misery leaking out to give my soul some relief.
I have been contending for the faith once delivered to the saints a lot lately it seems and I feel I can no longer bear to do so as it hurts so many people’s feelings, people more beautiful and gentle than I. So I have decided to stop writing and posting my thoughts simply because for every one person who seemed blessed by these writings there seemed to be twenty that were hurt by them and I can no longer bear to hurt a single soul – I have never been a strong or resilient person anyway.
I have been called so many hurtful things of late, things that have never ever been entertained within my heart, (even as an unsaved man), that that pain has also become simply too much to bear.
So, I thought I would try and leave you all with something that is perhaps a bit gentler than that which I am used to expressing when it comes to contending for the faith, something closer to how I am in general.
To those who felt any encouragement and who encouraged me in return as we all await the arrival of our Saviour, thank you so much, you have made a great deal of difference to my walk with Christ, the Spirit in you comforting my spirit, I suppose.
For those who have been hurt by my contending, your hurt was not my intent, love never set sail to hurt those it cherishes.

Not much has changed in our world!
Jesus of Nazareth, this beautiful man of sorrows was rejected when He walked the earth, a man acquainted with bitterest grief, as Isaiah would remind us; and, you know, in a hundred million ways every single day He is still being rejected to this very day.
Every time a person is left to die of starvation or drought, He is rejected. Every time an old man or woman is left in an institution to be cared for by strangers instead of family, He is rejected. Every time a defenceless baby is scraped from a womb, He is rejected. Every time a woman is brought so low as to believe the only thing she has left of worth is her body to sell for the instant gratification of the man with enough money to buy her, He is rejected. Every time a popular singer sings a song about some form of humanistic love promoting promiscuity, He is rejected. Every time a person thoughtlessly hums along to that song, He is rejected. Every time another Hollywood blockbuster is released where the hero blasphemes His name as He saves the world and gets the girl, He is rejected. Every time the audience cheers in approval, He is rejected. Every time some crass, lewd joke gets a million laughs from a popular sitcom, He is rejected and despised and we turn, as it were, our faces away from Him because we esteem Him not. Every time Man proclaims his descent from apes, the Lord is rejected; every single time Man proclaims to have conquered something of universal importance, (apart from coming across as some rather pathetic ant-like creature climbing atop a blade of grass somehow proclaiming to all the other ants beneath him that he has conquered the world when he can’t even seen beyond the lawn in which he lives), Jesus is ridiculed. Every time we equate Him with some other self proclaimed spiritual guru or popular self help counsellor we ridicule Him and all that He stands for.
I have heard Jesus likened to all sorts of ridiculous people from the loud mouthed boxer Mohammad Ali to Ghandi to Mandela to the multifarious Hindu swamis living off the poor of India and every single time this occurs He is rejected and despised and we hide, as it were, our faces from the one who deserves our endless praises and worship and gratitude.
Every single time we belittle His astonishing accomplishment upon that cross at Calvary by trying to add, thereby taking away, our little bit towards salvation, we acquaint Him once again with a grief He does not deserve to be acquainted with.
I would have to say that one of the greatest tragedies of our world is this sad and sorry attempt of Man to bring along his measly 1% to add to the 99% supposedly achieved by Jesus at the cross, or so Man in his fallen state appears to think.
I have come to believe Satan has been able to get more souls than a calculator can multiply by convincing humanity that out of some twisted form of gratitude it must bring along this precious 1% made up of charitable deeds and religious rituals and so forth so as not to offend the LORD when the LORD so plainly teaches that no flesh shall glory in His sight; meaning no man or woman will ever have reason to boast before the LORD about how hard they worked in order to bring along or maintain this mythical 1% and add it to all the wonderful things the LORD has done.
This is what penance and door knocking to flog Joseph Smith’s Book of Mormon or the Watchtower and bowing down to Mecca five times a day is all about! This is the stanch old Catholic nun sitting around in a cold, dank cellar of a room denying herself a meal a day, the Moslem cleric going through yet another pointless Ramadan, the Buddhist Master squatting for endless hours chanting a nonsensical mantra, the Mormon wearing funky unwashed underwear for months on end, the ardent church-goer doing yet another stint of Lent before all who are bored enough to want to know about it, the New Age Environmentalist out battling the elements and the Japanese whalers as they paradoxically save Dolphins and abort their own babies, the Hindu guru paying for more incense sticks to offer to his countless statues that cannot talk or see or hear or move, this is the 1% that religion offers as a bribe for salvation, a bribe that is both unnecessary as well as being nothing less than an outright insult to God, considering the price He paid for it: The life of His precious Son.
What we are seeing in Chapter 53 of Isaiah’s lament is only the tip of an iceberg big enough to sink a hundred trillion Titanics. Even though these passages of Isaiah are quite vivid we are still not really privy to what Jesus experienced taking on the Holy Wrath of God Almighty on our behalf; one could say, for instance, that it could be likened to a Tsunami made of molten lava great enough to engulf the entire universe all heading in our direction and a second before we are completely obliterated by this wrath, the ground before us magically opens up and swallows every single smouldering ember, pouring the whole horrifying shebang upon the head of Christ, and that would still not be a fitting picture of the enormity of what it was the Lord accomplished for us in our stead.
Like the majority of us, for most of my waking day I feel cocooned within the dullness of necessity, trying to remember what bills need to be paid, what clothes need washing, what chores need to be done or wondering just how many days ending in a “Y” that I can bear to wake up to all alone as I am and still somehow remain sane while all the while I feel a weariness that gets heavier with each passing year engulfing this tattered sail hung on half mast that is my soul. However, there are moments, when contemplating something of the Lord I have read in His Word or when I catch myself thinking of Him in general terms that I am stopped dead in my tracks and my heart is filled with a good thought, a clarifying moment of wonder, a heartbreaking tick of time when I can almost envision the Rose that is my Lord and Saviour being trampled by Satan’s jackboot only to release a fragrance so pure and fine as to be completely mystifying to the darkened heart and mind of a creature burdened, as I am, with a fallen nature, moments when I can almost taste the last drop of moisture being wrung from the divinely dehydrated sponge like a final tear from the eye of a dying poet as He perfects the poem He is making of me as I stand in awe, enraptured that such utter, terrible beauty can be fashioned in the mind of Almighty God for one such as I; and then that moment appears where it seems every creature out there in the world is watching on with baited breath, my inner eye being commanded to turn in upon what is left of my strangely fading self as that voice I know o’ so well whispers to my soul: “My son, the King is laying down His life for you”
In these o’ so rare moments, it is like the whole world has ceased its constant scurrying over matters so trivial one could scarce find the energy to waste the ink needed to depict them, exceptional occasions when it feels as if my very spirit is being catapulted right into the epicentre of time itself, to the only moment that has ever meant anything in the entirety of creation; that moment when His bloodshot eyes stare intently through the cosmos directly into mine and the three most beautiful words ever to be uttered ring throughout the universe in a kaleidoscopically explosive array of hitherto undiscovered colours of exquisitely magical shades and achingly magnificent hues…
    “It is finished”
    Whispered through the ray-break dawning.
    “It is complete”
Sighed like a breeze through swaying trees.
    “Paid in full”

  28. How sad!

My initial response is to weep as I realize the insidious poison so prevelant in the western world has become so engrained in the third world, too.

Perhaps a world-wide economic crash will be God’s way of knocking down this false god of prosperity. If He does do this, may He help us who know the Truth to be ready to step into the vacuum with the authentic Jesus Christ of the Bible.

May it also be a warning to all who read this:
    1 Timothy 6:5-11 (NKJV)
5 . . . [false teachers] suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.
6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

Let us cling to the True Christ and the True Gospel and not stray from it by way of greediness or love of money or the desire to be rich.

    God bless,

Seems that so many are going through a type of burn out doing the work He’s called to do. Sometimes a time of rest is what we need to bring back a different perspective and renewal of spirit.

That writing you posted here spoke about how it is only the Lord’s work through imperfect human vessels. It was a timely article this side. Thanks.

  30. My dad just shared this link with me. I am appalled and disgusted by such ungodly and spastic so called ministries and pastors. “God is a game”??? oh really..? I don’t find that anywhere in the Bible. This is simply a market branding of God and God WILL NOT take such things lightly!! Repent all you ungodly preachers. And the funny thing is that these prosperity preachers have no solid theological knowledge. Listening to them is like listening to uneducated teachers trying to pass on knowledge. This is sooo sad man!!!.. But I believe God will soon separate the sheep from the goats!!!..

    Matthew 7:21-23
    New International Version (NIV)

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

  31. A couple of years ago the Lord gave me a teaching about the prosperity gospel. I called it “Fortune And Destiny~ The Pagan Gods Of Babylon.” The main text was God’s rebuke of His people’s rebellion in Isaiah 65:11-17. Verses 11-12 say, “But you who forsake the Lord, who forget My holy mountain, who set a table for Fortune, and who fill cups with mixed wine for Destiny, I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will bow down to the slaughter. Because I called, but you did not answer; I spoke, but you did not hear. And you did evil in my sight and chose that which I did not delight.”

The NKJV says “who prepare a table for Gad, and who furnish a drink offering for Meni.” The Hebrew for “Fortune” in verse 11 is “gad” which means “fortune,” or “good fortune.” The Hebrew for “Destiny” is “meni” which is defined as “fate,” or “fortune.” They were actual heathen deities the Jews worshipped in Babylonia.

This passage speaks of the “mixed wine,” or mixed word of truth and falsehood, for those seeking fame and fortune. Again, “Gad” (fortune) and “Meni” (destiny, or fate) were pagan gods the Jews worshiped in Babylonia. By the way, Babylon means “confusion,” or “confusion by mixing.” These heathen deities are still being worshiped in today’s American churches! The “prosperity gospel” is the present day manifestation of these demonic spirits. If they remain unrepentant, these false teachers/prophets who promote this deception will be slain by the Lord (Isaiah 65:15).

I believe there will soon be a Mount Carmel showdown between the modern day prophets of Baal in our nation who have exported our harlotries around the world and are leading God’s people astray, and the Elijah-like prophets. Amongst a remnant, the pure, unadulterated altar of God is being restored.

If you would like to learn much more, go to this link Select the Bible study “The Prosperity Gospel” and read for yourself. Praise the Lord for His truth that sets us free!

  32. I believe in prosperity gospel. I have been healed by Jesus. I have been blessed by Jesus. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. The earth and all that is in it belongs to God. When the devil offered Jesus all the world if he would only bow down and worship him, Jesus rebuked him. The devil was trying to sell Jesus what he already owned. That’s like someone coming up to me and trying to sell me my car. It is already my car, how dare you try to sell it to me! The same thing with healing and miracles, we are children of God’s blessing, it belongs to us, we should not try to buy what is already ours. Believe and receive. You know that many will come to Jesus and say “Didn’t we cast out devils and heal the sick in your name? And Jesus will say, Get away from me I never knew you!” So that should prove to you that many will work in the signs and wonders of Jesus name but not know Jesus.

  33. Wow, what an eye opener that this is happening in Nigeria. So sad to see the Word of God made into money.

I know God wants to bless us but one element I don’t see taught is the suffering of Christ that all believers have to go through. Also to be used by God requires brokenness and testings. There is a balance to everything and this video showed the out of balance in the teachings of God.

What do you expect? A country full of the desperately poor – of course they are going to cling to anything that offers them hope and they will get caught up in the material. One thing which I believe was missing from this video and should have been included to round it out as a true documentary would have been interviews with a variety of church members.

  35. Lord forgive them for they do not know what they are doing!

  36. I live in South Africa and see how these guys tell the poor they will be rich.
meanwhile he drives a fat car and stay in a palace why they stay in shacks. They swallow the drivel every week.

  37. Christina Jan 26th 2012

I sadly spend years in a Prosperity Gospel Church. I was desperately hungry for the Lord. The more I dig into the Bible the more evil those Churches/Preachers are to me. Its an age of great deception. People chase signs and wonders not the Lord. I feel sorry for the followers. They are being fed a lie and led away from truth. Its alarming how big the churches are. Its a desperately sad and sick situation. Thanks for posting the video.

  38. Sickening video indeed. The message, ” God has a wonderful plan for your life” by Ray Comfort comes to mind here and addresses this very problem of coming to Christ to be blessed with properity, good health, etc. Never once did I hear a mention of sin and the need to repent.

    Thanks for posting this.

Gee theres lots of thoughts here

    Why do we dislike wealth?

King Solomon was the richest man in the world yet wrote parts of scripture.

We get told its good to tithe by Jesus – with LOVE and justice

So some preach with good motives and some bad.
    Rejoice! Jesus is preached!

everyone thinks theyre right – the interviewer
    – the pastor
    – me
    – everyone at JTB tv

and none – not one of us are – in fact all on the entire earth is corrupt

    But Jesus is perfect!
please wheteher your church teaches you will prosper or hates that
Just LOVE and OBEY Jesus – and you will find strength to do right.

In plain red letter we find this
    LUKE 14:33
So you cannot become my disciple unless you give up everything you own.

    What does this mean?

By The way – one of my weaknesses

I Know the presence and power of the Spirit of God – how he reveals

  41. michelle d Jan 26th 2012

Well it is funny… and so simple… But wow did we miss the truth.

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Joh 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Joh 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Joh 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Joh 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

So what sin we have in this day.

God so hated this teaching so much.
He sent his Son to become our complete offering.

Please tell me what could we add to Jesus…

This preaching is telling the world JESUS isn’t enough and this teaching is apostate.

Tell me what you dare bring before God…
… and call an offering that he would accept.

Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
    Beside Jesus…

Do we think it is Jesus and $29.95 and we will be blessed

God answers prayers in Jesus Name.

Because Jesus is all that is aceptable…

God forgive us for we have all been preverse in all our ways…

Where in the word does it say JESUS and the offering the bible…?

    Heb 10:8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
Heb 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
    Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

GOD forgive us what can we add… to your offering… Your dearly beloved SON.

Where your heart is there will be your treasure also… My treasure is GOD i bring JESUS…

Thier treasure is ??? They bring money.

They are recieving a differt spirit.

Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

    So are they christians…?

By The way – one of my weaknesses

I Know the presence and power of the Spirit of God – how he reveals
LOVE – who Jesus really is!

but i dont know how to discern between true miracles
and false ones – is that stuff real – im afraid to say.

I really dont understand the spiritual world
Except – Jesus is Lord – Gods Spirit reveals that

  43. God is a game…WOW. I want to scrub my eyes blind and my ears deaf for having seen and heard this video. My heart is broken.

  44. Christ Embassy has infiltrated into Edinburgh.with all its false teachings and it has spread like wlid fire as there are a lot of branches under slightly different names but the root is still the same..Vile teaching.. I went to the church C E for 3 weeks 2 tooo many and saw the spirit of Mammon working big time. I cant beleive how the people are hoodwinked into this terrible false teaching. i then googled The Pastors name and wooow.. I have wept as i have watched this video..ooh i have repented of sitting under this teaching.
When i heard the so called pastor in the video say God is a game i reeled back into my chair with such a gasp. What blasphemous talk
God help this man …..He cant take all this wealth with him to heaven that is if he even gets there !!!!!!!
i have pulled out of the so called church of today as the Holy Spirit and God are being made a mockery by all of this and these people.. and other teachings..
I pray that the power of the Holy Spirit will come upon all those people open their eyes to the truth. It is only the truth that will set them free..I Praies God Elohim El Shaddai El Elyon that i am under His banner of love and protection. ……….I pray through this video that Gods power can and will begin to work and set these captives free from this abomination.

  45. ” It is easier to sell a Liar,
Then to give away the TRUTH “

  46. God bless, When Chris Cole directed me to read “KUNDALINA WARNING” I went down a dark road of deliverance from being part of that movement. When it was all done, I went before the Lord and asked Him, what allowed this false spirit in the church? His reply was the prosperity doctrine was the crack that open the door. Thanks for posting this…love you guys!

  47. “My Holy Name” and His Permanent Principles for His Kingdom
have been so neglected that 2 Thess. 2:10,11,12 are inevitable.

  48. “But when it pleased God…” (Galatians 1:18).

“As workers in God’s Kingdom, we have to learn to make room for God — to give God “elbow room.” We calculate and estimate, and say that this and that will happen, and we forget to make room for God to come in as He chooses. Would we be surprised if God came into our meeting, or into our preaching in a way we had never looked for Him come? Do not look for God to come in any particular way, but look for Him. That is the way to make room for Him. Expect Him to come, but do not expect Him only in a certain way. However much we may know God, the great lesson to learn is that at any minute He may break in. We are apt to overlook this element of surprise, yet God never works in any other way. All of a sudden God meets the life “When it was the good pleasure of God…”.

Keep your life so constant in its contact with God that His surprising power may break out on the right hand and on the left. Always be in a state of expectancy, & SEE THAT YOU LEAVE ROOM FOR GOD TO COME IN AS HE LIKES.”

(Read Oswald Chambers January 25th meditation from “My Utmost for His Highest”) for yourself. And then, if you have a quarrel with it, take it up with your Heavenly Father. He has told us, His Ways are not our ways, nor are His thoughts our thoughts. He is the Awesome, Almighty, Creator God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, the WORD Himself.

  49. Dear Lord, please judge the churches and the “ministries” in this country that export this filth. What will God have to do to get the church to repent?

  50. David Gonzalez Jan 27th 2012

this is S-I-C-K! i´d like to vomit now…truly…

how great the damnation will be on those deceivers…and how great the judgment already is on those greedy churchpeople…as somebody wrote earlier…those teachers are GODs judgment upon those people…
    I could cry…maybe I will in the closet today…

  51. Ken Burgess Jan 27th 2012

Shocking, yes. But typical of the nonsense preached in most of the churches in the west and particularly on so called chriistian television and radio; TBN, God TV, Daystar, Copeland, Hagin, Savelle, Duplantis, nausem. Their greed is unparalleled and they are shameless. The book of Jude verses 11 thru 16 issues a scathing rebuke and eternal judgement on such as these.
WAKE UP CHURCH!!!! The entire system is corrupt. We must turn away from this corruption in true repentance and stop funding that which is man centered. CHRIST is the exalted one. The only exalted one.

  52. Peimila Jan 27th 2012

How twisted/perverted can one get? That is the limit! The liar’s trap!
    1.God is a game?
    2. Now I wear gold watch and designer clothes?
    3. Fireman has blessed me?
    4. Jesus was a rich man and He had an accountant in Judas Iscariot??

    Deception.deception,deception !!

What is he trying to establish?? People of God let us stand up strong and courageously against these heresies. This deception must be exposed and stripped off.
Pray that such corrupt wind will STOP blowing and die down in the might Mighty and exalted Name of JESUS the Name above all names!!
We must pray for these guys.
The LORD bless you Bro Andrew for the heartbeat you have for HIm. Thank you for sharing.

  53. I am currently in Brazil conducting Ministers conferences in order to help bring biblical to that which is Spirit and Life. This is just one more confirmation about why our Lord gave me the following word to share on Monday.

Many Christians can say all the right words, i.e. new covenant, grace, the cross, crucified with Christ, identity in Christ, union with Christ, etc. However… Read the 1-23-12 TGIM GOOD NEWS below to find out more.

TGIM – Thank God It’s Monday!

THE WORD IS: If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:23

THE POINT IS: It has been said, “Some people know just enough to be dangerous” and rightly so. Knowledge alone puffs up; that is, it makes one a “know it all.” Or at least he thinks so. And if a person thinks he already knows it all, then he is not about to listen to anyone else. He sure won’t be receptive to any more information, directions or instructions. Perhaps that’s why some people don’t bother to read the assembly instructions. And we’ve all seen what a disaster that can be! There is only one know it all—the Lord God Almighty! He is all knowing, the Source of all knowledge. Therefore, He alone is the Enlightened One. As such, only the Spirit of the living God can enlighten you! When He does, you will understand clearly; you will know where to go, what to do, and how to do it. Until you know the real Truth that comes from the Spirit of God, you will never be free . . . indeed. You won’t be able to walk in newness of Life! Thus, you will only have a “form of godliness,” a mere imitation of the real thing.

THE APPLICATION IS: When a person receives Jesus Christ he gains new life in Christ. He is removed from darkness into the kingdom of Light. But instead of walking in his new light in the Lord, too many Christians continue to depend upon what they know, rather than Whom they know. But that is not sufficient; it is the source of knowledge that must change! Yet many Christians have simply changed the basis of their knowledge to the Bible, Christian books, and Christian messages. As a result of all the good Christian teaching available today, many more Christians know the message of life, but . . . they still don’t know the Life. They can say all the right words, i.e. new covenant, grace, the cross, crucified with Christ, identity in Christ, union with Christ, etc. However, this is not true Spirit knowledge. It is merely intellectual information and thus it cannot be Life to you. So, if what you think is truth and life is really darkness, then it is very dark. The reason being: you’re content in your so-called light, which is really darkness, and you are no longer seeking the true light. Furthermore, the kingdom of God is not in word, it’s in power! (2 Corinthians 4:20) It is the power of God’s Spirit that will make the difference in every area of your life. He will enlighten you, empower you, and enable you to walk in newness of life. So don’t just settle for knowing the words when you can walk in the Life. After all, it’s the Life that counts!

    Have a great week,

    Lewis & Lue Gregory

I am deeply grieved by the evil motives the “Prosperity Gospel” caters to and exposes. And such reports as this provide examples of how we, God’s people, can so easily give occasion for God’s enemies to blaspheme.

    Several words of caution, however!

In the midst of my grief and anger at these clear, dramatic abuses, it is too easy to point at others without seeing my own seemingly more insignificant compromises that attempt to use God. May the Lord use my watching of this video to open my heart to His exposing, purging fire in my own life more than my righteous indignation toward the charlatans exposed here. I must not, in my own self-righteous pride, join the mockers and revilers. I could be just as easily deceived, perhaps in other areas, and be blind to how my own pride is clearly manifested to others in the ways I use God.

Secondly, I must be cautious to realize that this production was apparently designed by non-believers with the intent to defame. I don’t doubt the Lord can use (and is using) this to bring shame and judgment on dishonest and disobedient hypocrites. But I must be careful to recognize that while God uses even Satan to refine His people and otherwise achieve His glory, the enemy often uses the media to attack God. And tragically, this video likely is causing some who don’t know and love Jesus in truth to further harden their hearts against Him

Finally, the Lord has recently been convicting me that in my disgust for its abuses, I have overreacted to the teaching of the principle of “sowing and reaping.” It is clearly taught in scripture (2 Cor. 9:6; Gal. 6:9)! Yet while affirming the principle, Paul steered clear of abusing it (1 Cor. 9:11-12). The preachers in this video are almost certainly aware of their own selfish manipulation, and God will chasten or judge them in His time. And most of the people who are being manipulated are probably also guilty of their own selfishness and pride, which makes them falling for the charlatans’ appeals. But it is also possible that some of these givers are simple servants of God who give out of love for the glory of God (though it’s hard to imagine it is the leading of the Spirit). But though I despise the abuses I have seen, I must admit that Paul did encourage generous giving (sowing) with a view to bountiful receiving (reaping) of even material things.

Ultimately I pray that we I (and all other viewers) would be able to watch such portrayals with grief for how God’s name may be defamed, but not allow the videographers (or the enemy) to provoke a self-righteously judgmental and cynical response in my own heart, as it seems is likely intended.

  55. Prosperity teaching is just one of the many deceptions that our Lord allows to expose and test our hearts. Many are falling away as a result of giving their own hearts over to unclean desires and consequent seducing spirits. Remember it is the Lords will that the tares remain amongst the wheat right up until harvest time. i.e. You are going to recognize more and more of the fruit of false Christianity right up until harvest time (which is when the Lord comes) but you won’t be able to ‘uproot’ them. Another important thing to note is that just prior to ‘the harvest’ these tares will be ‘bound together’ for destruction by God’s angels. I don’t understand how this will happen but I perceive that it means that those who have participated in these destructive heresies will be so deceived by the end, as to be drawn into worshiping a form of religion in the ‘beast’. Eventually a separation or a ‘coming out of her’ will result from persecution within the ‘Church’ itself. That great tribulation period of suffering as revealed by John the apostle indicates that our Lord will use such suffering to set apart a ‘holy’ people unto himself for eternity.

    Matthew 13:26-36

  56. John Martin Jan 27th 2012

This video left me totally sick at heart. However I feel the need to offer a counter opinion to those being put forward. While I totally reject the prosperity teaching being presented here and so many places around the globe I also believe that God is not necessarily blessed by our poverty. The scripture tells those who stole to steal no more but to work with his hands in order to have to give to others who have need. The old testament says that God give us power to get wealth. The difference is in what we do with what God provides for us. Does it not say, Give and you shall receive? Now if our purpose is to become rich then error is close behind but if our purpose it to give even more then God can continue to bless us. Can we use some of it for our own needs? Yes for He also said “muzzle not the oxen that tread out the corn”. The problem is that most people simply are not sold out totally to God and willing to accept whatever He chooses to give them whether riches or poverty. For nearly 30 years I tithed faithfully to the churches I attended and was told not to worry about what was done with the money because I had been obedient to give my tithe and the rest was up to God. Though I faithfully gave I always had financial struggles just to make ends meet and felt like the persons that Haggai was addressing when he said you bring home your earnings only to put them in a pocket with holes in it.
When I finally dropped out of the church system and began to seek God in my own time and seeking to understand His word a few things became apparent to me. First of all I became convinced that God holds the giver responsible for his giving. If you give to someone who wastes it then there is no blessing from it. Secondly there is no such thing as a new testament commandment to tithe. When Jesus spoke to the Pharicess about anything He was addressing them as keepers of the old testament law and pointing out their hypocrisy not giving a commandment to new testament worshippers. It is all about the surrender to the perfect will of God everything we have and allowing Him to change our hearts and desires. It is questionable if our desire is for earthly wealth whether we really know the Lord and are born again. The root determines the fruit.
Anyway I wish to offer my testimony as to the provision of the Lord when we give scripturally. I’m sure that there are those who can find fault but here goes. I was praying and asking Him to show me where I should give because I do believe that we need to be giving sacrificially. David said “I will not offer anything to the Lord that costs me nothing”. Many give out of their prosperity and never even miss it. Several days after praying I read a short article posted by Jerry Golden in Isreal and noticed a link to his book “Burned Alive”. Curiosity led me to read it as it was made available online through his website. It is an amazing story of how God used this tragedy to get him to Isreal to start a ministry with the focus of praparing to transport Jews from other lands into Isreal by boat as anti semitism and persecution arises in these areas. The bible speaks of another haulocast. I felt God was speaking to me to support his ministry which is very humble. I have been doing so for more than two years now and I rarely give to any other charity but it is simply amazing that I give at a time when I may be very short on funds but suddenly finances come in in such a variety of ways that it is always very clear to me that God’s hand is in it. For others perhaps it may be some other ministry that is struggling that you may help and God will bless your giving. I do not ever give in order to get but that I may have more to give. The added prosperity has allowed me to help many people around me in a variety of ways that were previously impossible. I truly believe that if each lover of God would listen to Him and obey Him in giving that much of the need could be wiped out among Christians. If you are a Christian and are struggling with your finances then you need to ask God what to do with your giving instead of just dumping it in the offering basket and wondering why you are still falling short. If you have a nickel to give then give to someone who really needs it and you may find a dime.
God put a coin in a fishes mouth for Peter to find. Just don’t give it to someone who promises you a return if you just “give it to them”.
God is not a liar, His word is truth and it’s time to stop believing the liars and prove God’ Word for yourself. In Malachi God challenges us to prove Him and the churches have perverted this to their own selfish purposes. I hope this helps somebody out there.
God’s going to deal with the money changers in His own way.

Any type of “giving to get” comes from wrong motives and God is exposing this in His church, that’s all of us. Praise His name forever.

Please be careful about how quickly we make judgements
    on these matters

He said he believes Jesus is Lord

How do we know that this is unbiased in how it is framed
The church layed money at the apostles feet

We must take care brothers/sisters how swiftly we denounce ministry based upon a television report

Or we may tear ourselves apart

  60. Andrew Jan 27th 2012

Samuel – I have ministered a lot in Nigeria, as well as Uganda and South Africa. I have also been into Latin America and Singapore where things are virtually as bad. I tell you – there are no words big enough to describe the size and scope of this Apostasy. Words literally fail me. It is everywhere and it is HUGE.

A big reason is that the US Prosperity teachers can afford to get on Satellite TV – broadcast all over the world – and peddle this sick garbage – and the church in the Third World has completely swallowed it hook, line and sinker. It is so awful, you could just literally weep for days over the sick state of the church – particularly the Charismatic/ Pentecostal church worldwide. But in many nations it is seen in virtually EVERY evangelical denomination.

    So sad. Words fail me.

    Bless you,

    Andrew Strom.

  61. This is sad…I”m getting ready to leave Monday for a month in Kenya…I’ve been told to be prepared to combat the false teaching that has seeped in there. Seems that the same spirit that has grab a hold of the American church has reached over to these 3rd world countries. God help us.

  62. Stephen Jan 27th 2012

What’s new? The love of money is still the root of all evil.

The rich young ruler had the same problem Judas had – wanting to associate with spiritual people while harbouring carnal greed in their hearts.

It’s the same in every country – those who are greedy will follow those who offer them wealth, but Scripture says if we sow to the flesh we will reap corruption and if we sow to the Spirit we will inherit eternal life. It’s that simple.

Why be shocked? It’s just more of the same – people who will not read God’s Word to find out His thoughts and His ways – they will be, and already are, deceived.

Jesus said “See that no man deceive you.”

Dwight Moody said “The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible.”

    Proverbs 3:5,6

  63. chas351 Jan 27th 2012

I watched the whole video… and I dont see anything unscriptual. Do you know Derek Prince had his own private jet? yet he was chosen and gifted by God and full of the Holy Spirit. All similar miracles performed as these Nigerian preachers. It takes money to spread he Gospel and the more money there is, the more people get to hear the Word of God. Jesus had body guards too and they carried swords. Nothing new here.Demons came out of people screaming in the Bible, all in the Name of Jesus. The principle of sowing and reaping applies to ALL aspects of life, including money.

  64. Andrew Jan 27th 2012

Chas – I can tell you for a truth, my friend, that Derek Prince did NOT have his own private jet. You are confusing him with someone else. Jesus had “body guards”? No- he had “disciples” – a word that is becoming foreign to the modern church.

I don’t want to offend you, and I’m sure you mean well, but if you can watch that video and think there is nothing wrong then I have to believe you are in terrible deception.

Sorry to say this. But please go and read all the words of Jesus in the gospels. You will see what I mean.

    Yours with sadness,

    -Andrew Strom.

  65. Sophie Edwards Jan 27th 2012

@John Martin. John I fully relate to your comments and agree with you. Bless you brother.

  66. John Martin Jan 27th 2012

just one more comment that I believe is vital in our giving. Jesus said when you do you alms do not let your right hand knopw what your left is doing. He also said that what you do in secret that God who sees in secret will reward you openly and that could even mean that the people around you see that you are prosperous. If we do our business with God in secret there’s no room for blowing your horn so that people will notice. Humility in all we do is so vital.

  67. Steve G NSW Australia Jan 27th 2012

I heard a lot of “I”,s in there, what was more disgusting (besides most of it) was that the commentator said, “He tells “HIS” (not Jesus’s) followers that “HIS” miracles powers (not Jesus) can change their lives. He states that God is a game, I wonder what part of the games Jesus thought he was playing as he was torn apart at the cross.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against prosperity, and have great regard for the Late Kenneth Hagins teaching, but there is a Godly side to this, The last part when the interviewer thought Jesus was poor, I agree with the Pastors comments on this that Jesus was wealthy, but where is the reality of Christ preached, don’t worry about the money, preach Christ, he personal relationship with and the lord will take care of our needs. Kenneth Hagin due the extremes of the prosperity teaching going around in America in the 80s and 90s, a few years before his death, tried to correct the extremes of this message, by printing a book called “ The Midas Touch” a balanced approach to biblical prosperity. (Still available on ebay). This opened my eyes to the extremes, and eventually led my family and I to leave the church we were in, as our Pastor even though he had the book still told many of the lies mentioned in it. Gods business is to save people and show them his reality. Seek ye fist the kingdom of God then all these things will be added unto you.

  68. Andrew Jan 27th 2012

    Jesus was “wealthy”??

Sir – please go and read the gospels again – ignoring the teachings of the US Prosperity guys like Hagin.

Jesus came as a poor man preaching to the poor. He had no home, he was born in a stable, he had no “chariot” and no “board of directors”. He ministered on the streets, not in some ‘palace’.

Please sir, I am serious. Read the gospels again.

    Yours with sadness and concern,

    Andrew Strom.

The disciples acted like body guards
    John 18:10 KJV
Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear . The servant’s name was Malchus.
Otherwise, why did Jesus tell His Disciples to carry a sword?
    Luke 22:36 KJV
Then said He unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Therefore you are making an implication that the following preachers are also false?
This creates a very clear division in the World of Christianity.

    Kenneth Copeland
    Creflo A. Dollar
    John Hagee
    Benny Hinn
    Joel Osteen
    Oral Roberts
    Rory Wendy Alec

In the Old Testament, God’s Kings had extravagant riches, are we not Kings in the New Testament?
Is not the Blessing of Abraham (who was very rich financially) for us in the New Testament?
Is not God’s Kingdom physical and spiritual?
Are we not told to pray Heaven on Earth?
Not all are called to be Martyrs or Poor in this world.

Apologies on saying Derek had a private plane.. some how I thought he did.. but can’t find any confirmation on the Internet
    Anyway…moving on
Derek Prince wrote a Book “God’s plan for your money” which is how to bring your finances in line with God’s perfect plan.
And that is the KEY: what is God’s Plan for us – to say prosperity preaching is NOT in God’s plan is NOT Scriptural.
Being rich is not evil in itself but men’s hearts and their attitude to money.
Not all people can handle riches.

    1 Timothy 6:17 KJV
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded , nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.
    Genesis 13:2 KJV
And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
    Psalm 49:16 KJV
    Be not thou afraid when one is made rich , when the glory of his house is increased ;
    Proverbs 10:4 KJV
He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich .
    Proverbs 10:15 KJV
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
    Proverbs 10:22 KJV
The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich , and he addeth no sorrow with it.
    1 Chronicles 29:12 KJV
Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great , and to give strength unto all.
    2 Chronicles 32:27 KJV
    And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
    Proverbs 3:16 KJV
Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
    Psalm 112:3 KJV
Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
    Proverbs 22:4 KJV
By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
    Ecclesiastes 5:19 KJV
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
    1 Timothy 6:17 KJV
    Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded , nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

God our Father is RICH, so why shouldn’t His children be??
Does NOT God want us to have pleasure?
    Job 36:11 KJV
If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
    Psalm 16:11 KJV
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
    Psalm 36:8 KJV
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
What is the ultimate source of riches and honor?
Many men misuse that power but it comes from God.
Why does God give it to his people? It’s very interesting.
That he may establish His covenant.
It’s part of His covenant commitment to his people.
God is the one who gives us power to get wealth.

  70. Andrew Jan 27th 2012

    How sad, Chas.

How totally against the clear teachings of Jesus on money.

I feel so sorry that this deception has been so deeply imbibed by you, my friend.

Here is my challenge to you-

Get a big concordance and look up all the NEW TESTAMENT words-
    “Poor, rich, money, mammon, possessions…”

Look up every time those words appear in the New Testament – and you will see what a deception this Prosperity gospel is, my friend.

    Bless you!

  71. Now I understand the scripture where Jesus says depart from me you workers of iniquity, you never knew me when speaking to those who he would not let into the Kingdom.

Lets pray and ask God to protect us so we are not deceived as so many will be in these last days. :(

  72. Sad, disturbing, disgusting. I wonder how many millionaire preachers will be the next warlords, drug dealers and pimps in Nigeria.

  73. Andrew, you need to investigate the Tourettes Syndrome outbreak in Western NY State. What they’re describing reminds me of your Kundalini Warning. There are 15 kids from LeRoy High School with nervous ticks and odd symptoms of spiritual issues. I wonder if they’ve been messing with a Oidji Board? Maybe I’m wrong, but there seems to be no physical reason for all these kids to develope these symptoms.

  74. translator brasil urgent.

  75. Yes a shocking video.God does bless us but not necessarily with money because With many of us He knows that money and material riches can be our downfall. It is good to have enough to give to the needy so long as we dont make money our god. There is far too much emphasis on money in the churches in the west. There should be more emphasis on walking in Holiness without which none of us shall see the Lord.In regards to money and giving contrast these two comments which came from the pulpit. In one church I used to go to the offering was silently passed around and nothing was said from the pulpit. In this same church they were once having a love offering and I heard the Pastor say”we are having a love offering today but we want you to know that if you are not able to help at this time you are just as much a part of it”.That church never lacked and we gave from our hearts. How different from what you hear in some other churches such as “we are having a special offering and We want everyone to be a part of this and give something”.I have heard comments such as open up and empty your wallets and I even heard a Pastor say “if you are satisfied and dont want to increase so as to give more you are selfish”.Thats not scriptural as the word says having food and raiment for us to be content.Let us in the west repent and get back to Holy living.

  76. Why is everyone so shocked, its going on everywhere. This is the prosperity doctrine and has been going strong in western churches also for years even in NZ. Mind you its no worse than Christian Palestinianism or Chrislam. Most Churches and denominations are truly apostate, just what the Word of God predicted.

The issue is very simple we have to read and believe that the Bible truly is the Word of God. That is the manual, nothing else. Don’t read what you think it says, read it carefully and then believe it. Anyone who tries to lead you away for the truths contained within its pages is leading you up the garden path. Don’t touch them with a barge pole.

  77. Citizens of God’s Kingdom are “blest” with solid relationships, health, sound minds, and all the material things needed to “…finish the race set before us”. Note: the operational word here is “needed” vs. want! So, let’s pull in our “covetous claws”!

Re: Tourettes linked to the occult–Tourette’s is a generalized disinhibition disorder — a severe imbalance between the sympathetic (the stimulus) and the parasympathetic (the inhibitor) systems. Usually this leads to motor &/or frontal lobe &/or learning & memory &/or anxiety &/or obsessive compulsive disorders.

Without “electrical storm” activity on computer monitors, when hooked up with electrodes while seizuring, then seizure-like convulsive activity may be autonomic body reactions/responses to trauma too horrific for the human mind to grasp and comprehend. Usually this leads to dissociative disorders (aka multiple personality disorder). There is a another set of symptoms (i.e. fire, knives, blood, feces, urine, drugs, etc.) related to Satanic Ritual Abuse, which is an occult issue. For more information about this, contact He works as a specialist in this area.

  78. Alan Heron Jan 27th 2012

A recurring theme throughout the Old and New Testaments is God’s anger at false teachers and false prophets. We don’t see or hear
preachers today expressing that anger very often, if at all. How can this be? God hasn’t changed, so how is it that we don’t hear the voices
of His preachers, teachers, prophets, whatever title you give them, raised in outrage against false teaching today?

Oh, I know we get told; “touch not God’s anointed” (which is taken way out of context), but the Bible tells us that all believers have been anointed
and also tells us in many places to contend, to reprove, to rebuke, to exhort, to reject even! (in Titus 3:10)
Yet in the church today, such speech as the Bible tells us is required when dealing with false teaching, is frowned upon. WHY?

Paul, Peter, & John, all named names of people who were guilty of leading others astray, so the idea that we shouldn’t do so doesn’t begin to hold water, especially in light of 1 Tim 5:20 and Paul’s confrontation of Peter in Gal 2. In Peter’s case, it’s clear from Peter’s words in 2 Peter 3:15, where he calls Paul “our beloved brother”, that Peter took the rebuke and responded in the manner of the wise man in Prov 9:9. He certainly didn’t tell Paul ‘touch not God’s anointed’, or get bent out of shape because Paul was a new kid on the block so to speak.

Most christians refer to Matthew 18:15-17, but this is about a brother who sins against us personally, so the sin is not public knowledge. This is not the case where someone is teaching false doctrine, which is leading other christians into error, as was the case with Peter’s behaviour in Galatians 2, where Paul says that his actions were leading others astray, including Barnabas, so he rebuked him publicly, so that those who were involved could see the truth of the matter and there was no confusion.

Many of the passages in the New Testament dealing with this subject, also say that this will become more prevalent in the last days. Jesus’ words
in the Olivet discourse tell us that this will be THE major sign of the end of the age. He tells us that deception will be so bad that it will become
an epidemic and WILL deceive MANY (Matthew 24:5 & 11, Mark 13:6, Luke 21:8)

Given my own experience of how destructive wrong teaching is to the lives of believers, I’m very much opposed to the current attitudes of many churches to false teaching where the idol of unity amongst christians at all costs is upheld at the expense of doctrinal truth. We have got the cart before the horse. Unity will follow naturally as people ‘love the truth’, as in 2 Thessalonians. Once we ‘agree to disagree’ for the sake of unity, we have compromised and our love of the truth is made less than our desire to ‘get along’ with others. The passage just mentioned tells us the awful end of such accommodation, which is why there is so much error in the church today that goes unchallenged. The only outcome of such a course is the disastrous condition that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 7, where many will say Lord, Lord, etc, yet He denies any relationship with them. If we love such people, we ought to alert them to their peril. It may not accomplish much but stir them to anger against us, but that’s OK, if even a few are rescued.

We need to exercise grace and compassion whenever confronting error, of course, as per Gal 6:1 and Jude 22-23, and be sure that our motives for speaking are not based on anything but love for the truth and the body of Christ. There can be no pride or arrogance in our hearts, but speaking the truth in love doesn’t mean that we can’t point out error, in fact Jude 3 tells us we are obliged to do just that, as do many other passages.

For those who claim that Jesus was wealthy, I’m afraid the Gospels disagree with you. Take for example Matt 8:20 and Luke 9:58, just for starters. Hardly a normal state of affairs for a wealthy man! I agree with one of the posts here that poverty is not equated with righteousness either, but that is the opposite side of the same coin. Prosperity teaching says ‘God wants you to be rich’, whereas Poverty teaching says ‘God wants you to be poor’.
3 John 1:2 does say “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”, however this doesn’t automatically mean that all christians should be healthy, wealthy and wise.

When dealing with any doctrine or subject, the WHOLE counsel of scripture should be taken into account, or there will be imbalance and error. This method of taking proof-texts and building a doctrine on one or even two verses is not the way to handle the scriptures. All the relevant passages of scripture on a subject need to be looked at. Whatever is the predominant view expressed is the one we should hold. Whatever EXCEPTIONS there may be (and there always are in most biblical doctrines), are EXCEPTIONS to the general rule, as you would expect. This allows for the grace of God to operate in people’s lives.

For example, 1 John 1:9 says that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That does NOT mean we can sin with impunity, then just confess to make it right with God, for that would be to trample under foot the Son of God (Heb 10:29). The clear weight of scripture on the subject of sin is that God is totally intolerant of it, but here we have one of those verses that gives us an avenue to God’s grace if and when we do fall, so that we can be restored to righteousness in Christ. That this verse has been taken far beyond the main teaching of scripture is evident in the Roman Catholic Church’s practice of ‘Confession’, where even a Mafia Don, can go to confession and have his sins pardoned, go out and sin all week, or month, or whatever, then go back to confession to have it all washed away again. If you take this one verse and build such a doctrine on it, you are a false teacher, according to the whole counsel of scripture on the doctrine of sin, no matter how many times you point to this scripture, which is true and right and good, and has been put there for our comfort.

The same thing is done with countless passages by countless teachers, to build their own little doctrines, which usually end up forming denominations, all hanging their collective hats on things that aren’t necessarily what the Bible says at all, when the rest of scripture is taken into account.

In fact, I believe that God wrote the Bible like this in order to test our love for the truth, because if we really love the truth, we will dig and dig, as for Gold, rather than make a half-hearted effort, then stop when we unearth some iron-pyrates (‘fool’s gold’) and be content with that.

    One of the saddest things about today’s church, is that we have access to the scriptures and study tools like we’ve had at no time in history, yet the incidence of biblical ignorance among christians is appalling. I believe this is because we are a ‘fast-food’ culture, where everything has to be reduced to bite-sized, easy to digest parcels, otherwise we lose interest and the words of Paul to Timothy ring down through the centuries to our day and condemn us;
“2. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Tim 4:2-4)
We have been living in such days for quite a few decades now and it’s getting worse and worse as we watch.

To those who recognize this I say; “And when these things begin to come to pass , then look up , and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)

To those who don’t, I say; ” Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” (Luke 21:36)

God bless you Andrew for sharing this video, who knows but that some of the commenters here might be exhorted to search the scriptures again as a result of some of the conversation here? I pray that may be so, but at the least you have obeyed the biblical injunction to contend for the faith and I believe that is pleasing to the Lord.

  79. Traveler Jan 27th 2012

Well one good thing has come from all this and that is exposure of a fundamental problem and the need to work out a solution to it.

What Andrew sees and reacts to instinctively is correct but it is obvious he does not know how to combat it.

Now this is what has to be done and this is what has to be understood.

    1. A clear understanding of how the kingdoms of this world operate and how the kingdom of God operates has to be defined. Just cruising along no longer cuts it. You have to understand what you are working with.

    2. The kingdom of Satan duplicates and copies many aspects of the kingdom of God but with their own twist that they present as an alternative gospel. If you are ever going to have any chance of telling the difference you are going to have to study the kingdom of Satan as well so as to grasp what they are doing. It really is a battle in the spiritual.

    3. The kingdom of Satan also produces it own signs and wonders and miracles so as to give credibility to their alternate gospels. You will have to have some idea of demonology to be able to bind this and drive it back. Yes you have the authority of Christ to operate with but if you do not know where to apply it you will never fully bind the manifestations.

    4. Understand that the occult has gained leadership in a lot of the church. Religious demons are quite happy to operate in a church environment and their objective is to make the church fall into sin so as to separate the saints from God. This has been going on all through the old testament and the same tactics are still used today. The fact that they even brought about the fall of king Solomon shows how effective they are. Most church buildings today are actually temples to Astaroth.

    5. You have to teach about mammon and all the other subjects that are not feel good or uplifting. You will be surprised just how effective the saints become if they actually know what they are dealing with and what is actually expected of them. There is no point in vain proclamations of the whole council of God if it is not practised. Behind religiosity is a demonic influence.

    6. You have to understand that even Jesus did not retain the blessings of the masses and many turned from him when he said things that were hard for them to hear. None of the old testament prophets were very popular and neither will the true saints be if they are doing their job right. Strive for quality, not quantity.

    7. Understand that the saints are now operating from a very compromised position. We all claim to be followers of Jesus and hold him up as our Lord but try and establish a solid definition of just who Jesus is and and it becomes obvious the church no longer has a solid definition. Think oneness, trinity and other just for starters.

As you can see the reason the false is running rampant is because the true is no longer fully understood anymore. How do you suppose to oppose the false if you do not have a solid grasp of the real. Those that have the false firmly believe they are right, just how do you intend to oppose the false if you do not want to have to engage in contention. In this case to oppose the spirit behind divine prosperity is going to result in strife with those caught up in it. Or any other false doctrine for that matter.

  80. we must pray for those who are caught up in deception. Please keep your hearts pure and don’t judge all – by some…. we have the same thing here in America…. This is a false gospel offering a different Jesus… I only say – this so we will all pray that their eyes be opened…. It can be so easy to repsond with a self-righteous posture…forgetting that it is only the grace of God that wee see this teaching and lifestyle for what it really is….This is a subtle and yet disturbing expose of the prosperity doctrine that is totally contrary to God’s way for us – which is -sacrificial giving and helping others. Those whose hearts are truly Kingdom based – desire nothing this life has to offer….

  81. We all know a bad smell when we come across one.

Our nose may twitch once or twice before the full force of the smell hits us. Whether it is rotting food, fertilizer from the garden or the hint a baby needs to be changed, our nose tells us that something unpleasant is nearby.

We may possibly sniff out the smell, tracking it with our noses — only so the source of the smell can be identified and appropriately extinguished.

Just as our noses recognize bad smells, so they also recognize good smells.

We can usually tell when our favorite meal is being cooked or when a favorite perfume is sprayed or the scents of fresh rain or the seaside, from the smell that wafts to our noses. Unlike bad smells, we enjoy good smells and do not seek to get rid of them. Instead, we enjoy the smell and often follow our noses to find the source of the smell to see if that can bring us further enjoyment.

In 2 Corinthians it talks about Christians being the “aroma of Christ,” as they live their lives in the world. For some people our aroma is offensive because they are offended by Jesus and His cross.

For others, our Christian aroma reminds them of Jesus.

The text is clear: God uses us to give off the scent of Christ in our actions and in our lives as He tries to draw people to Him. The aroma of Christ can be far reaching and it varies. (See 2 Corinthians 2:16.)

It can stem from a kind word or action; it can come in a Bible study and worship.

As the Holy Spirit molds us into the likeness of Christ, the aroma of the Savior flows freely from us and into the world around us. When this happens, when people get a whiff of these things in our lives, they wonder where these actions came from.

When they’re told that Jesus is the source, the Holy Spirit can use that moment to share the miraculous life, death and resurrection of the Savior with a lost soul and bring him or her from darkness into the Redeemer’s marvelous light.

Lord, help us – may the way we lead our life be a positive and powerful witness to the grace and forgiveness we have received from Jesus, our Savior. May we be ever appreciative of the salvation His blood has won for us. In His Name we ask it. Amen.

Samuel, unless the video is a complete fabrication of words and images, it speaks for itself. If the presenter is an unbeliever, he was more honourable in his demenour and in spirit than many so called believers. I urge you to review the video and hear the words spoken by the persons behind them. Line upon line, if you will, as others in this post have reflected on some of the key phrases. WHile we cannot judge every intent of the heart, we can judge the teaching.
Steve, Chas, I heard this wealthy Jesus thing a long time ago and it hoodwinked some people. Stuff about the gold and rare gifts amounting to $400 million dollars, etc. There is even a movement afoot to have collection of ‘tithes’ centralised in whole nations, for the advancement of the Kingdom. I was so preoccupied with the Gospel that it pretty much flew over my head. Years later, I met some people who were held captive by its false teaching.

I you want to have your needs supplied, ‘Seek first the Kingdom of God and all His righteousness’ (not wordly riches); ‘In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.’

People’s lives are falling apart all over the world and their riches are not profiting their souls. My advice for people wanting needs met: Work honestly, improve your skills with humility and integrity, and live by faith in the Son of God.
Dwight, that is an interesting connection – Kundalini and prosperity Gospel.

This filfthy prosperity Gospel has ramifications beyond human wisdom. It is a destructive path. Money does not finance the Kingdom of God.

I believe that the breakdown of many christian marriages is also connected to the money gospel. It just takes years for that seed to flourish and is well disguised by the time of its full blown manifestation.

You can smell the lust for riches/power/wealth (sorry to be abrasive) and it’s a sickening stench. Before I became a Christian, I had opportunity to connect with untold wealth. I ran away and hid in obscure poverty, for a while, for my own safety and sanctity. Little did I know then that my soul was in a spiritual battle. Even this from one who was raised in poverty. Please brothers and sisters, let us be content with what the Lord has provided and serve Him with a humble heart, preaching and sharing the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

    POVERTY IS A CURSE. Prov10:22

I think the micro focus on prosperity teaching is a stumbling block to really hear what these preachers are saying: ie. that is ONLY ONE of many things they preach.

Fact is: People are getting saved by faith in the Name of Jesus Yeshua.

I do NOT agree with everything them preachers say or do…as humans they will say wrong things and make errors, however judging them as totally in error is serious stuff – I prefer to take the truth they say and discard the rest according to my current Scriptural knowledge and Spiritual discernment.. eg. the Nigerian saying God is a game may be out of context depending on how you interpret it.. ( I personally don’t think he should have said that) however, eg. it could be likened to saying God plays hide and seek (a game!!) (which is pretty much what happens in the reality of Christian living – God hides and when we seek, we find.)

    How do you explain this>??

    Luke 6:38a KJV

Give , and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down , and shaken together , and running over , shall MEN give into your bosom.

Isn’t that: People giving people money???

And this applies to everything in life>

    Matthew 13:12 KJV

For whosoever hath , to him shall be given , and he shall have more abundance : but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath .

  84. Traveler Jan 27th 2012

And then we look up the scriptures presented and examine them in their full context and the real meaning behind them come forth.

What a shame, and it’s only the tip of the iceburg…! I have a personal friend who know some of this WELLKNOWN preachers in Nigeria. He has personal experience of each of these guys BEHIND THE SCENES. Your ears will twingle when you hear what these guys do behind the scenes. They are utterly involved in serious whitchcraft… and even HUMAN SACRIFICES! (These are done behind the scenes. If you’re not part of the very inner circle, you’ll probably don’t know it…) My friend’s own life was in danger a few times and had to flee for his life. He escaped miraculously even after confronting some of them directly. I know, it sounds unbelievable, but before you bawled it out that these guys are presenting the real gospel, do yourself a favor and visit them personally. You’ll see it with your own eyes. Make sure you don’t get in their way, because you may not return alive…! I’m serious! These guys and their teams are vicious! You’ll see their dark side…! Then, post your reply on this video again…

On the other hand, I also want to causion that the scriptural principles that these guys refer to to back-up their evil strategies and motifs are not all incorrect just because they utilize these principles. Speaking in tongues and the principle of sowing and reaping and giving tithes at your local church are scriptural, but not a means to “get to the higer life” as these guys put it… Let’s not throw out the holy things of GOD with the false. Deception is deception because it has some truth mixed with false, wrapped in christian / biblical vocabulary.

  86. Traveler Jan 27th 2012

The thing is it is happening here in the west as well.

In the prosperity teaching you are taught to put your faith out for something. That is attempting to visualize your wish into existence.

This is one of the training exercises used to prepare budding witches for Necromancy further down the line.

The sad part is that much of the church does not have a clear understanding of what faith actually is anymore either.

  87. John Shipton Jan 27th 2012

Not many in the christian church know that Reinhard Bonnke is part of the Word of Faith Movement and is associated with the likes of Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland and company. He has been a guest speaker at Morris Cerullo conferences in the USA.
His newsletters, publications, etc claim that there is a great revival going on in Africa. Claims have been made too that his ministry has brought millions of Africans into the kingdom. He regular holds crusades in Nigeria where a lot of his claims comes from. However, when Christ for All Nations are asked to provide evidence, the organisation and himself have none and enquirers are referred to his publications. It is believed that the statistics are made from “decision cards” which people fill in by those who can read and write or filled in by someone else on their behalf of those illiterate.
RB appears on christian tv channels which are mainly run by WoF leaders such as Daystar TV. One only has to view these tv stations to find out what the programmes contain – sowing your financial seed to get God’s blessing is the ploy, in other words, give your money to build their empires.

Can Anything Good Come Out of Nazareth/Nigeria?

I am Nigerian, born again, and sad and burdened by the materialism called prosperity that has afflicted the Church of Jesus Christ not only in Nigeria but worldwide.

But what is here presented as a Nigerian church, if you put on ur thinking caps is nought but a poorly staged Seyi Rhodes parody – not reality:

    * First notice a Hummer-riding Pastor dressed in a cheap coat, and no shirt, only an inner wear! Haba! Even the poorest church goers don’t dress like that in Nigeria, talk less of a prosperity pastor!
    * Notice the church building – no ceiling, sandy, uncemented floor; contrast with rich neighborhood buildings as the Hummer pulls out.
    * Again, a prosperity preacher will not drive himself in Nigeria, more especially after preaching. Very un-Nigerian.
    * Even the mien of the Pastor is most un-Nigerian: We are ebullient and the average prosperity preacher here don’t differ one bit on charisma from his American counterpart from where we copied the bad habit.

    * I feel sad that John the Baptist TV has joined the global bash Nigeria image war of which I consider Sahara Reporters an online ‘terrorist jungle media’ that sees nothing good in Nigeria.

    * But not to worry, when God must have finished with Nigeria, and purged her iniquities, the world will see the Rainbow Angels, the Sons of God, stepping forth in blazing glory from this beleaguered country.

  89. Graham Peacock Jan 27th 2012

I am able to watch satellite tv and look at some of these christian tv stations. Word of Faith preachers clog up the programmes which the God Channel broadcasts. They are wealthy enough to pay for their programmes. The God Channel have had their presenters broadcasting from Jerusalem and of course the Jews, christain Jews, and christians who live in Israel, are being targeted for their money to keep the God Channel on air.
In looking at the other christian tv channels, they are involved in what is called “fleecing the flock” and are doing so to their christian viewers.
One tv channel called Revelation TV, which has said that they serve the “broad church,” allow WoF preachers to do their own thing. Jesse Duplantis, Sid Roth, and John Hagee pay for their broadcasts. They are also allowing the Seventh Day Adventist Church, considered to be a cult and founded by a woman who preached error, to have their own programmes on air.
So if you have money to spend and spend, it comes down to who pays the pied piper to play their tunes.
Maybe I should set of a business and use christianity as a tool to make money as well and become prosperous in the process. I could market myself, writing books, produce dvds and cds, to promote every wind and doctrine that imitates christianity, and become a christian celebrity by jet setting all over the world in my private jet to get attention.
Care to be my PA with you on board, and by getting my religious credentials from the internet, I then can promote myself to become a “bishop.” Would you like to join the ranks of becoming a prophet or an apostle in my organisation. For that is what is happening amongst the leadership within the WoF Movement – Morris Cerullo is called “Dr!”

  90. CHAS351 said, “POVERTY IS A CURSE. PROV.10:22”

Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.”

How, pray tell, does that translate into “poverty is a curse?”
I challenge you to find ANY passage of Scripture that says that poverty is a curse.

If, according to your unscriptural, false doctrine, poverty is a curse, then you are saying that Christ is cursed for Christ was so poor He said, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has no where to lay his head.” (Luke 9:58).
Christ was so poor that when the Pharisees accused Him of not paying the single coin needed for the temple tax, He had to send Peter to catch a fish and take the coin out of its mouth to pay the tax (Matthew 17:24 – 27)

You quote Luke 6:38a in an attempt to support your unscriptural doctrine. Why don’t you take that verse in context and read the rest of Luke 6? In it you find that rather than being cursed, the poor are commended and have a promise of God’s blessing upon them for the shall inherit the true riches – the kingdom of God (Luke 6:20).

You would also find in Luke 6 that it is the rich who are cursed – “Woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation” (v.24). How does this “consolation” of the rich end up? We gain an insight from Luke 16:19 – 31 where we read of the rich man’s fate in hell and the fate of that poor man, Lazarus. In verse 25, the rich man in hell is told, “Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.” (NIV)

How does your false doctrine account for these directives from God’s Word?
    1 Timothy 6:6-11 (NKJV)

I pray God’s Spirit will humble you and lead you to study ALL of God’s Word on a particular subject – and not cherry pick certain verses out of context which will support your fleshly lusts.

    God bless,

  91. God is a game?????? Wow. That’s not what my Bible says. God never refers to Himself as a game. Dangerous ground I think. And where did these people get this idea? Hmmmm smacks of Western “theology” I think.

  92. Dreadful, but I remain completely confident that God is going to be addressing this issue as a matter of priority as we head into the end times. This message is drawn from the USA, so as the US (and western wolds), church is judged and reduced in influence and in large part given over to deception and apostacy, demonic influences will be seen by the Africans to be deluding those that teach these things here, the Fathers of todays prosperity message will no longer be trusted by them. Many Africans will then start to qu this teaching from the west and God will anoint those that do etc. Not all will repent of it but the majority will I am convinced. Thats what I believe God has shown me:

God bless, (but not that way).

  93. Teshuva Jan 27th 2012

The only game that I am aware of that God plays is hide and seek.
He hides and we seek, with the promise that if we keep seeking we will find Him.
As we find Him, there are presents, but more greatly is the presence.
When our love for money outweighs our love for God, then we have a Judas mentality, which leads to destruction in the end.

  94. Fascinating, sad and tragic documentary. I had two thoughts:
    1. Church Marketing -uh– well you know what they say about that (ahem..)
    2. Jeremiah 51:9 – English Standard Version® (ESV)
9 We would have healed Babylon, but she was not healed. Forsake her, and let us go each to his own country, for her judgment has reached up to heaven and has been lifted up even to the skies.

  95. At some point one of the preachers in the video says that “God is a game”; as if the devil slipped and showed his true face. Interesting how the young interviewer insisted that Jesus was poor and would never drive a fancy car today.

There is no business like show-business! The love of money is one of the strongest drugs ever.

The fundamental root-problem is that people do not understand, and have never been taught, that God did not create us for life on earth. As King David said, “I am a stranger in the earth.” In other words, “I don’t belong here.” Instead, they still try to find heaven here on earth; the easy, prosperous, material lifestyle.

These preachers, who obviously do not know Jesus and also do not understand that God is not just gracious and that he is first of all Holy and all-powerful as a great King, have been absolutely deceived. They are used by the devil for his schemes!

However, we should not be surprised that deception is increasing during these end-times.

    Blessings, and All 4 Jesus!

    To Anthony D.

Please do not stop posting. Reading your posts always encourage me and give me hope. What you wrote in your final post here was excellent. There are many believers out there who are feeling as worn out and as hurt as you. We know believers who stand for the truth of God will be vehementely attacked in the very last of the last days (of which we are now in.) Don’t give up! It is now more than ever you need to keep speaking the truth. The enemy would like nothing more than for you to become silent. I’m not sure, but I think you said you are a nurse? Nursing often brings you into contact with the very effects of sin and selfishness, on peoples lives, in all kinds of ways, on a very regular basis. You are constantly giving out in nursing. It is one of the most demanding jobs out there. Combine that with the incredibly hard times it is to be a genuine believer and it is almost unbearable. Especially when you are alone in your household. Please take some time to rest. Keep your mind stayed on Jesus Christ, as it looks like you do. Please know that there are brothers and sisters out who appreciate what you write. God bless you.

  97. Focusing in on what everyone else is doing wrong won’t help us in the days ahead. God would have us focus on what he is saying and doing.

  98. Watching it a 2nd time I feel as sick as a parrot, we could be praying that God exposes these fraudsters that our deceiving our African brothers and sisters.

  99. To Truthseeker: I agree with what you wrote to Anthony D. He has been a blessing to many on this forum. However, I also agree with Anthony D. I have been hurt many times on this forum by brothers and sisters in the Lord. However, Jesus tells us to forgive our brothers up to 70 x 7 times! In other words, none of us are perfect and we will all hurt each other sometimes – but each of us that has been hurt must forgive the one who has hurt us. For every one who has hurt me, I pray that the Lord will bless that person, and I use the words they have spoken to ask the Lord if that sin is really in my heart. The Lord can use what has been meant for harm for our ultimate good – if we keep our hearts right before Him.

May the Lord richly bless you Anthony and I pray you will rest in Him and be refreshed. Be still and know that He is God. Blessings to you dear brother. June. x

  100. To To Anthony D.

I second others comments to you, please dont stop speaking out, or we will end up with a yes man club of conformists on these online debates. If you are feeling really rough you could always post your comments and just not bother to read others replies. I do that on one of my websites. I couldnt carry on otherwise.

  101. Andrew Jan 28th 2012

Doesn’t sound much of a “discussion” to me, Steve. This is a place to ‘discuss’ – not “hit and run”.

    -Andrew Strom.

  102. This is so pathetic! God has given this man an annointing that could be such a blessing to the sick and demon possessed…an annointing that many true Christians would love to have, to honestly help others. But this man has abused his gift and turned it into a profit for himself. Jesus never once charged a dime for any of the miracles He did, and this man has the gall to say “God is a game!” Oh yes, it is certainly true that we “reap what we sow”, just like he says-and this includes the bad things that we do, as well as the good! What goes around, comes around! This man may have a very blessed life right now, but unless he repents, his next life may not be as great as he thinks it’s going to be. Vengence belongs to the Lord-He will repay! Especially those who take from the poor for their own gain.

  103. Bruce Skelton Jan 28th 2012

Anyone who chases a prosperity God ( Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland,
John Hagee, Joel Osteen, Oral Roberts) deserves to be ripped off. For they are running after these gurus for gain to consume it upon their own lusts. God’s word tells us.

Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

2Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

God will judge these prosperity gods in due time.
God tells us that all these things must come to pass in these last days. But we are not to be discouraged, but to keep looking up for our redemption draws near.
Now unto him who is able to keep us from falling, and bring us faultless at the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We must comfort one another with these words.
    In Christ,

  104. Leyna wrote:

God has given this man an anointing…

    Dear Leyna,
I think that the preachers’ ‘anointing’ comes from the devil instead of God. Whether he realizes it or not, he is deeply deceived! He only uses the Bible and our Lord’s Name as a tool for his (the devil’s) business.

Here are examples, showing how satan can use people who are unprotected and vulnerable because they do not have the Holy Spirit to warn, convict and teach them.

    2Cor.2:11; 11:3; Rev. 12:9,12,17; Acts5:3; 2Tim.2:26; 1Thes.2:18

Satan entered into Judas: Jn.13:27. And then there is Peter… Jesus rebuked satan for using, and speaking through Peter; “Get thee behind me satan!” (Matt.16:23)
Peter was vulnerable because he had not yet received the Holy Spirit.

The Bible makes very clear that satan is real (Rev.12:4; Eph.6:10-12; 1Pet.5:8; Rev.20:10; Job 1:7 and, although not omniscient, he is very powerful. We read that he is FULL of wisdom (Ez.28:12). He even deceived one third of all the angels in Heaven to follow him: Rev.12:4

The Scripture in Js.4:7 tells us to “resist the devil”, which clearly suggests that he is a powerful foe whom we must be conscious about.

According to a recent statistic only 25% of Christians in North-America believe in the existence of spiritual powers, good (Holy Spirit) or evil (demonic).

No wonder so many Christians are unprotected, as we clearly see in the blindly following audiences shown in the video.

    Blessings, and All 4 Jesus!

  105. The properity gospel is a false gospel from the pit. There are so many preaching it these days it turns me off completely. Even small churches preach it maybe not to that extent but still they do. It is truly putting money before God.

I heard the word properity before I heard the word faith in this video.. They are indeed placing their hope and faith in money above God’s Salvation Gospel. It is violating the Word of God. Great repentance is needed.

I visited a small church where they told us what their expections would be if we continued there…first up was to give one tenth of our income to THEM. I do give, but I prefer to give as He leads me. Thanks Andrew for sharing this one on your site and through your newsletter.

  106. I can’t help wondering what is the point in the posting of this video? I have ministered in Africa regularly over the last 10 years, not in Nigeria but in Kenya, where the spread of the false prosperity gospel is on a similar scale. I agree with Andrew that the African church is rife with this stuff because I have seen and experienced my fair share of it. BUT, personally I do not despair because I’ve also met and ministered with many African Christians who do know the true gospel and are living it out. The Lord has His Bridal remnant in those nations just as He does in the Western church.

I would remind those who are so ready to pass judgment on the Africans shown in this video for embracing a gospel that promises to make them rich of exactly where this false gospel came from. It was initially taught and exported by Western ministry leaders. We are told in scripture that teachers will receive a stricter judgment (James 3:1). Few of us in the western church have experienced anything that comes near the poverty experienced in many African nations, so let’s be careful of generalised judgment on whole groups of people.

I cannot speak for the Christians shown in this specific video, but many African Christians do not own Bibles because Bibles are very expensive in Africa and these people live hand to mouth day by day just trying to put food in front of their children. So please don’t assume they can read the scriptures for themselves.

If this false gospel is to be countered then who will lay down their lives before the Lord and sincerely say “Here am I, send me”? How many reading and/or commenting here would be willing to do that? The only thing that will counter a false gospel is the true gospel of Christ, but how will they believe if they don’t hear, and how will they hear unless somebody goes?

So I’m sorry but I can’t see the point in all this tut tutting. Please, and I say this in love, if you are so affected by seeing this video be willing to do something about it. If you can’t go, then can you financially support or pray for someone who can?

Andrew, I believe you are quite sincere when you say you personally despair of what can be done to arrest the spread of this false gospel. I would respectfully encourage you, as you obviously have doors open to you in Africa, go back and preach the true gospel, as often as you are able to.

For anyone interested I was last in Kenya just three months ago and the Lord had me give a strong word and call to repentance on this very subject. I will not reproduce all of it here but it finished like this:

“Where are those who are willing to pay the price for true apostolic authority in Africa? In your midst you have false apostles, false prophets, false shepherds and false teachers preaching false gospels, growing fat and rich at the expense of God’s flock. Why? Because the people love it so! ”

God is seeking those He can raise up in authentic apostolic authority in Africa, but who will pay the cost? The cost is to take up our Cross daily and follow the true Christ, proclaiming His true gospel. Again, the Spirit says to the church in Africa,” who will pay the cost, who will pay the cost, who will pay the cost?”

“Repent therefore from the tickling of the ears and the chasing after false gospels and take up your Cross and follow the Christ who was delivered to you, the Christ of the true gospel, whose gate is narrow and whose way is difficult. On these who do not seek their own glory and their own kingdoms, I am willing to pour out true apostolic authority, but where are they? ” says the Lord.

It can be read here in full:

Was there repentance among those I was teaching? Yes. Am I seeing fruit from that repentance? Yes!

I was not speaking to a great assembly of leaders in a capital citiy. I was speaking to a group of no more than 80 to 100 pastors and believers in a bush church. As one of them remarked: This is so typical of the Lord to deliver this word here rather than in a large fancy city church. Jesus was born in a stable.

Let’s be about our Father’s business, the need is great.

  107. Andrew Jan 28th 2012

Yes – there are small breakthroughs in village areas.

I have seen the same thing myself.

Meanwhile the TV Prosperity preachers reach millions upon millions at a time via Satellite.

We need a bigger breakthrough. This has gone on for years – and is actually getting worse – and bigger.

But I encourage you, brother, to keep doing what you are doing. It is important.

    Bless you!

  108. Yes, thankyou for your comments Andrew, but I am sister, not brother :-)

  109. Andrew, I agree a bigger breakthrough is needed, but what if God chooses to bring that breakthrough by multiplying what you have called “small breakthroughs” in village areas? You have sent out an email stating “I personally despair of whatever can be done to arrest it…” Really?? That is strong language. I related what I did in the hope of encouraging you and others to actually be part of the breakthrough rather than to despair. Sadly, your response sounds like you did not hear or receive the encouragement and also seems rather dismissive of sincere African leaders genuinely following and ministering Christ in their small villages. God has not stopped using the weak and foolish to confound what seems wise to the world. Personally, I do not despair. I’m sorry that you feel the way you do and trust that God will minister His encouragement to you that He is the One in control in Africa regardless of what it may look like to us.

  110. The video is heartbreaking, but let’s remember what human nature is. How many of us have suffered abject poverty? How many of us have gone to sleep not knowing where or when the next meal was coming from? While the millionaire pastors bear their responsibility for their actions, as do the members of the churches who are deceived into supporting such charlatans, I believe that under similar circumstances many of us would have done the same thing. As Oswald Chambers says, (paraphrased)our potential to sin is there; all that is missing are the right circumstances.
Let’s not point the finger too much – we might have three pointing back at ourselves. It’s partly our rich Western countries, after all, which keep African nations in poverty. It was our rich Western countries which exported the prosperity gospel in the first place. If one member suffers, then the whole Body suffers. We should be broken in repentance for our part in causing it and praying for God to have mercy on all of us. It is time for judgement to begin at the house of God.

  111. Peter - pensioner from the UK Jan 28th 2012

I have been a born again spirit filled christian for many years, I had to leave my charismatic church due to the church leaving the AOG, becoming independent, and embracing Restorationism.
The leadership claimed that they and similar fellowships (part of the Restoration Movement) would been taking cities, towns, and the United Kingdom for Jesus. (This was the vision which God had supposingly given them). Nothing has ever happened since then and that was way back in the 1980s. They don’t explain why no accomplishement has been made since. The church has tried all sorts of teachings and doctrines to get bums on seats. It targets and attracts young people from the university (with success) but students are unaware what is true and what is false to include how to become prosperous. But older people like myself are considered obsolete when it comes down to discussing sound biblical teaching. Excuses have been that God is doing something new!
Having said that, the influence of the Word of Faith leaders is everywhere throughout the UK. Not much is challenged about the methods they use. One explanation has been that they may be anoited by God. Another has been at least they produce signs and wonders, and are part of the christian church.
From the wisdom and discernment (gifts of the Holy Spirit) given to me which is all I ask from God Almighty through prayer, the trickery using the name of Jesus by many of the WoF Movement leaders is appalling and should be exposed for what it is.
I am glad that there are brethren around who have taken up God’s direction to do this. Justin Peters is one of them. And this christian journalist below is another. I hope Andrew Strom will remain doing likewise.
Please see this message which came to me today by e-mail. I have forwarded it on to my brothers ands sisters in the Lord. Suggest that you do likewise to include the scriptures given…

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3 verses 16 to 17

Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. Romans 16 verses 17 to 18

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. 2 Peter 2 verses 1 to 3

Sowing your financial seed to get God’s blessing has spread like a disease all over the world which has taken root and affecting the modern western christian church. It is being said that if you practise this philosohy it guarantees prosperity. However, this is nothing but stealing from the poorest of the poor!

Within the christian church false preachers and prophets are preaching to their audiences and followers that this is the way to spiritual enlightment.

They declare the Jesus was rich to the extent of having His own accountant.

Having watched the video clip produced in the African country called Nigeria, many of its charismatic preachers are under the influence of the Word of Faith Movement and are copying the shenanigans which are infectious and rampart throughout the United States of America. Like in America, the spiritual leaders are employing body guards to protect them and their wealthy empires.

These wolves in sheep clothing have duped the christian church and its membership into a false sense of security by using secular business techniques, which compared and measured with the Word of God, are counterfeit and biblicaly wrong. For only discernment, a Gift of God, can distinguish what is righteous and improper.

May I suggest that you watch the video clip and ponder on the commentory that was filmed in Nigeria

Perhaps you would like to view this documentary made in another African country called Ghana

Listen to this song about the prosperity teaching which abounds in the preaching and lifestyles of the WoF leadership in America. Notice those shown on the screen

This link reveals those at the helm of the WoF Movement (and who appear regularly and dominate tv christian channels) in America. Kindly read

This is what WoF leader Joel Osteen said this week about Mitt Romney ( a candidate for the presidency of the White House) who is a member of the cult called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

As many as would post here we must understand that money has never been the deep root of Christianity. I have been with the Charismatics for some years and could see that they live for the tithe and not for the change and repentance of men. How could anyone be surprised at what they see here. I have left any denomination that set there priority on their provisions. We as peope of God at to be sacrificial. THAT MEANS THE PASTORS AND LEADERS ALSO.

  113. oneseekingGod Jan 28th 2012

Any one who has a heart after God’s would never do this! Intentional business that is going in God’s kingdom will be judged so harshly at the Judgement Seat. Please remeber this famous quote from a very Pure man also God himself.

FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL!!!!!!!! Church when are going to wake up and serve the true and living God and quit thinking he is our servant? We are His children and also His servant as well as His brother.

We should never lose our focus on the Great Commission to preach the Gospel into the whole world. To repent and live the life that God has provided through His Word. Anything else is just the world with all it confusion and darkness.
These false preachers and prophets appeal to the darkest of our sin nature idolatry( the love of money and things instead of God)

The more I look into the scriptures about Mystery Babylon and compare to Babylon in Daniel, I wonder.

Seems that this alternative religion will meld very well into the one world religion coming, unless it IS the very religion that is the foundation for all the other false being grafted into, and it sprang from America.

As has a whole host of debauchery not linked to religion come from these shores. On the dollar it says “In God we trust”. That god is not the one true God, but the god of mammon.

What other nation on the face of the planet has tried to meld all ethnic groups into one without a whole lot of success. This nation set up a standard that failed in their own nation and now are out to push it on all other nations. Pity the people who’s kings are unrighteous. Pity them more who’s shepherds have turned into the wolves.

What goes around comes around. The west is about to reap what they have sown. The natural course of events will bring circumstances around without a whole lot of help from God. Just like when someone jumps off a cliff, the laws of gravity dictate the result.

  115. Andrew Jan 29th 2012

TMA – you would have to start a school for preachers and IMMERSE them for months in the Truth. I have been to Africa preaching to pastors many times. After I leave, I know full well that they are left “IMMERSED” in a Christian culture that worships money and mammon. The only way to fix it is to spend months IMMERSING them in Truth. But how many of them want to go right against the flow and do such a thing? Only very few, I have found.

    Bless you!

I would like to leave as my comment some of God’s Word. Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand bny and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon[ that is, deceitful riches, possessions or what is trusted in]. Luke 16: 19-31 look this one up the rich man and Lazarus. This next is one that I meditate on often from 1 John 2: 15-17 do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If any one loves the world, love for Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lusto fo the flesh [craving for sensual gratification ] the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind } and the boastful pride of life [assurance oin one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things] these don not come from the Father but are from world [itself]. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life, abides (remains) forever. Other good verses are 1 Sam 8:1-3, Matt 8:20 Mark 6:8 and Jude verse 21 Scriptures about the blessing of giving which is a real principle cannot be the foundation stone of a ministry. Foundational has to be repentance from sin (10 commandments gives a good definition of sin and righteousness) and producing the Kingdom of Christ on earth, by making disciples. The Father did not send his son to establish an organization, but a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.

  117. Oh No!!!! What can be done about exploiting the name of our Lord? This Health, Wealth and Prosperity Preaching is not asking what we can do for God, but ‘gimmee, gimmee, gimmee my names Jimmy’ We make people aware of it and I know of it, being a South African, but have done nothing. TBN has so much of this as well. So scary.

  118. Pastor Brian Bennett Jan 29th 2012

I am of coursre reminded that Jesus said in theend there would be many who falsly come in My name. This is the evidence that speaks to it. you can not love God and mammon.

Seek God and His righteousnes and all the things need for life in a natural sense are automatically added to our lives. But to teach that the love of money is any part of salvation is an abomination to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Repent the kingdom of heaven is at hand and it is still the cry of the Lord of Glory my Jesus.

I truely hope in faith in Christ that the truth of God be the breaking force that destroys the work of the false teachers and money grubbing men in the name of Jesus. May God have mercy is my hearts cry, but as you know the lie we live decieving ourselves will be the judge of us, as Jesus said I will not judge you but the words I have spoken will.

Does our life line up with that Word?

Preach the true gospel please friends Jesus is coming so very soon.

    With the love of Christ
    Pastor Brian Bennett

  119. Matthew 16:24-26

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

    Luke 14:33

“So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.”

This video is confirmation of what the Lord showed me in a dream just a few days ago. I wrote a short message on it called ‘Entertainers In The Buildings Of Men’.

The hour is truly near for the true ministers of God to be sent forth and do the greater works in this earth to bring glory to the name of Jesus. He will save a great multitude of people and the fullness of the Gentiles will be brought in and ALL Israel will be saved!

  120. Kathleen Jan 29th 2012

Thanks for all the comments some have encouraged me some have left me perplexed. As for me and my house….I will not accept any invitation to a meeting until I have a full understanding of those chosen to speak. I will steer away from ministers who use the words “prosperity” “breakthrough” “anointing” “prophetic”. It may get lonely but so be it.
I recently traveled a distance to see a traveling preacher recommended by a member of the former forum on this site. Not one of the words I mentioned above was spoken. The pure gospel was preached and my spirit lept for joy! The altar was opened for REPENTENCE . The Kingdom was preached our King was honored.
    God Bless you all!

  121. lightbearer Jan 29th 2012

If one is truly seeking Truth, they will find Him. The deepest desires of our own heart lead us on in our pursuit of “whatever”. Woe to ungodly leaders, but ultimately I am responsible for where I end up…. Scary as that is.

May we all find the courage and desire to truly and fully embrace Truth.

    Love and Blessings

  122. Wow. I think the ‘preacher’ in the video works more in the power of Satan than he does in God. In the beginning of the video, the ‘preacher’ apparently commands demons in people. I would suspect that the demons are playing a game – they are pretending to be subject to him in order to decieve many others. They are just allowing him to have an illusion of power as a deception.

I would greatly fear what would happen to that ‘preacher’s’ soul if he were to die tonight. I think he would find he has a particularly aweful place in hell reserved for those who use God’s Word to deceive others.

  123. Traveler Jan 29th 2012

If you intend to oppose the spread of the divine prosperity gospel then you will have to do it as the scriptures instruct. You will not achieve this through flowery speech and convincing words because you are opposing greed. You first have to oppose and then bind the powers and principalities behind it so as to remove the driving force promoting it. Nothing you say or do will have much effect until this is done.

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Back in the days of the original Apostles the whole world was steeped in paganism, the worship of demons in the form of the old pantheons. Zeus, Jupiter etc. The knowledge about demons was common and all the first century Christians had to do when entering a new area was ask the locals who the local temple was dedicated to and they automatically knew which demonic entity to bind before proceeding to preach the gospel.

Now days that knowledge is lost. The original Christians drove out all the deceiving demons and their temples were left abandoned to fall into dust. To us now they are just old folklore and past superstitions but the fact is the demons are still around but operating from the shadows. They no longer expose themselves in the open.

Now the main demonic influence behind the prosperity teaching is one called Rimmon. No he is not the only one, there are others such as Astaroth but he is the main one when it comes to Mammon. Astaroeth is more over the false prophets that promote it.

2Ki 5:18 In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.

    עש תּרת
Probably for H6251; Ashtoreth, the Phoenician goddess of love (and increase): – Ashtoreth.

But one thing that the saints are going to have to do is start to test the spirits when it comes to prophecies again as laid out in scripture. This is why there is so much opposition to the following of this instruction in the scriptures from the false brethren. The false prophecies will sound all righteous but they will misdirect motives which opens the door for other influences to creep in by small incremental steps that lead the body away from the gospels so slowly no one notices until crisis is reached.

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1Jn 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

The bottom line is that if you want to serve the body of Christ then you have to do it the way the scriptures instruct you to do it. The gospel is not spread until the influence opposing it is bound. Otherwise you are just sowing the seeds in rocky ground where it will be chocked.

  124. TRAVELER said, “The bottom line is that if you want to serve the body of Christ then you have to do it the way the scriptures instruct you to do it.”

Yet much of what is claimed by him is contrary to Scripture.

    (1) He said, “You first have to oppose and then bind the powers and principalities behind it so as to remove the driving force promoting it.”
You do not find anyone in the Scripture “binding” powers, principalities or demons. You do find Christ and the apostles casting out demons, but you never read of them “binding” them.

    (2) He said, “The original Christians drove out all the deceiving demons and their temples were left abandoned to fall into dust.”
Where is this found in Scripture? You won’t find it because such fabrications are not to be found in Scripture.

    (3) He said, “Now the main demonic influence behind the prosperity teaching is one called Rimmon.” And then quotes 2 Kings 5:18, where Rimmon is mentioned. “Rimmon” was the god of wind, rain, and storm. The name had nothing to do with prosperity as Traveler falsely claims.

    (4) Traveler claims, “The gospel is not spread until the influence opposing it is bound.” Again, you do not find such claims of “binding” found within Scripture.

Traveler is right about one thing – we should do God’s word by the instructions we find in Scripture. However, we need to learn to discern between what Scripture actually states and the assumptions, false doctrines, and fabrications which people claim the Bible says.

By the way, I believe that “Traveler” is one of pseudonym’s Derek Hale has said he goes by (which would explain why Scripture is being twisted and misused by this writer).

God bless and keep contending for the faith as given to us by Christ and the apostles in the New Testament.

    Just to add

The golden calf that Aaron made while Moses was up the mountain in the book of Moses.

    That was symbolic of Rimmon

Exo 32:3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
Exo 32:4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
Exo 32:5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.
Exo 32:6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

  127. Traveler Jan 29th 2012

Just so you know, this is what Jesus himself had to say about the subject

Mat 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
Mat 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
Mat 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

  128. Traveler Jan 29th 2012

Jesus is recorded repeating the same bit of information here

Mar 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
Mar 3:26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
Mar 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
Mar 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

  129. Graham Jan 29th 2012

Thank you Peter for the links. An eye opener and informative on what the Word of Faith leaders are upto. And thanks to all for sharing their opinions.
Just a number of comments to say while the WoF Movement emphasises on prosperity, they ignore, and what most do in the 21st century church play ignorance to, is that word which keeps popping up called REPENTANCE, and has appeared on this web site.
These false teachers and prophets are “fleecing the flock” big time just like the bankers with their large salaries and huge bonus payments. It has been the same with football clubs paying managers and footballers millions of pounds for their salaries, pop idols, tv celebrities and so forth. Politicians are being paid their salaries and with increases beyond the rate of inflation plus expenses from the public purse, and of course paid additional consultative fees from the private sector as well to top up their lifestyles. And yet, austerity measures are imposed on the rest of the population and those without jobs and financial support are being told as an excuse that “we are all in it together.” What a joke. But many folk are not laughing!
These false teachers and prophets are laughing all the way to the bank just like the bankers are doing, etc, etc. They are fleecing gullible christians who want to be wealthy with the false prosperity doctrine. They are using and abusing the christian church with another gospel and are mocking God Almighty in the process. The leadership of the 21st century christian church has turned a blind eye as to what is going on and many refuse to speak out about these charlatans who are actually wolves masquerading in sheep clothing out to devour the flock. There are few shepherds looking after the sheep and most are paid hirelings to tickle the ears of congregations.
Where are the John the Baptists in the christian church calling people to REPENTANCE? And where are the born again spirit filled christians calling their nations and the christian church to REPENTANCE?
Have christians become too afraid to do so? Is it because they are chasing signs and wonders and to become prosperous which the Wof Movement and the Charismatic Movement are predominantly
    involved with?
The 21st century church has lost its way and direction where substitutes have replaced THE COMMISSION. The Gospel message has been watered down to suit the political correct brigade. It is appeasing Islam and other false religions. It has gone beyond the crossroad making it insignificant and a laughing stock in the world because of deception, turning away from the Word of God, not turning its eyes upon the Lord Jesus, and refusing to repent of its misdemeanours because of pride and arrogance due to saying that repentance does not apply to the christian church.
In other words the “christian church” has been infiltrated. It has also been hi-jacked. My opinion.
That is why I and with many other believers declare publically that we are members of the Body of Christ, we follow the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, are unashamed and wish to be counted as followers of Him, and no ther person.
For GREED is not an attribute and the exploitation of christianity is not part of our lifestyles.
So simple and practicable for the 21st century and until He comes to take us Home.

  130. Kathleen in WA State Jan 29th 2012

All I can say is “sick” and “pathetic”. True believers will worship with spirit & truth, and you can be sure such showmanship will not be part of it! Slick hucksterism is the same yesterday, today and forever.

We can also be sure that all sin will be discovered & revealed – – be it in the here-and-now, or there-and-then. God will not be mocked – or bartered, or parlayed, or merchandised.

While I am not opposed to believers being blessed materially or in their having much in the way of time, talent AND treasure with which to fulfill God’s purposes, I also know it takes great wisdom to handle such a great responsibility. It seems to me that prosperity of soul is the far greater gift & blessing.

  131. Graham Jan 29th 2012

I have been made to look a fool with the links which Peter gave. I have looked for Peter’s comments on this web site.
They were there before I made my comments. His comments have been removed for reasons of another.

  132. TRAVELER, My apologies to you for sugggesting you might be Derek Hale. He has stated that “Traveler” was one of the pseudonyms he used at times.

However, you have still twisted the Scriptures to say something they do not say.
You said, “The golden calf that Aaron made . . . was symbolic of Rimmon.” Then you quote Exodus 32:3-6, which tells of the making of the golden calf. However, this passage does not mention “Rimmon” nor is there any legitimate basis for claiming this is symbolic of “Rimmon,” Nor is “Rimmon” linked to “prosperity” anywhere in Scripture, nor anywhere in any other ancient writing, archeology, or artifacts that I can find. If you have any legitimate substance that Rimmon is symbolic of prosperity, then bring it forth.
On the contrary, all evidence I have found indicates that “Rimmon” was the pagan god of wind, rain, and storm. Nowhere is it associated with “prosperity” – especially in the Bible.

You quote from Matthew and Luke “No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.”(Mark 3:27). I assume you quote these as “PROOF” that Christ was advocating believers “binding” demons so they could be cast out.

First, what legitimate proof do you have that this analogy Christ used here speaks of Christ or one of His disciples “binding” a demon? For you to state that it does, has no legitimate Scriptural or linguistic basis for this assumption.

Perhaps, Christ’s analogy is referring to Himself as the strong man and He was indicating that He,Christ, would have to be bound by Satan for Christ to have any part of Satan’s kingdom. After all, that is the context in which this analogy occurs. The Pharisees were accusing Christ of being part of Satan’s kingdom.

Or perhaps, Christ analogy is speaking of a person – i.e. that Satan has to capture and bind a person before he could enter that person and spoil the person’s goods or life.

Even if the correct interpretation of those passages is that Satan is the strong man, there is no indication that “binding” the strong man means that a believer must “bind” Satan or the demon before it can be cast out of a person. In fact, the Biblical evidence is to the contrary.
We have numerous detailed accounts of demons being cast out by Christ and His disciples/apostles. Yet, we NEVER see any record of them “binding” the demon at any point during the casting out of the demon(s).

At least we do not see it in the manner which today’s believers attempt to do it.

I was alive and active as a Christian in the 1960’s, ’70’s and ’80’s when it became common practice for people (usually Charismatics) to “bind” demons as they attempted to exorcize people (or buildings, etc.). Often, such words as “I bind you, demon, in the name of Jesus Christ” are used.

You do NOT observe such usage in ANY of the records we have of exorcism in the New Testament.

In fact, it more resembles occult practices of saying the right incantation, than it resembles any example in the Scriptures. There is one possible exception is found in Acts 19:13-16 where “incantations” were used by false exorcists. But even there, they did not use today’s common “I bind you in the name of Jesus.” Instead, they copied the example which was commonly used by the apostles – “We exorcise you (or command you to come out) by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” The results – at least with the seven sons of Sceva, the Jewish chief priest – was that the demons turned on them and attacked them, saying, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you.”

So, if you want to say that Christ’s analogy (used in the passages you quote) means that believers must “bind” Satan/demons in order to exorcize them, then I challenge to give even one example of exorcism in the New Testament where this was practiced.

I think you will find that both Christ and His disciples/apostles merely commanded them to come out of the person. This is all they had to do because they already had all the authority they needed to cast them out. They don’t have to make sure they use the special magical words “I bind you in the name of Jesus.”

If one is going to instruct believers to do what the Word of God directs them to do, them let’s make sure that what that one is claiming the Bible says is actually what it says.

Paul’s instruction to the pastor/teacher, Timothy, was, “Be DILIGENT to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH.” – 2 Timothy 2:15

    God bless,

  133. When Jesus told demons to be quiet, He was forbidding them to manifest, in other words He was binding them. I don’t think of that as a formula but more as one weapon in an arsenal of weapons – we are to be led by the Spirit since He knows what weapon to use in each situation. When the disciples were following Jesus He would instruct them, for example, “this one can only come out by prayer and fasting”. But now we have the Holy Spirit to instruct us similarly in each individual circumstance, we are to follow His lead according to what the Father is doing.

  134. MUM
When a police officer (who has the authority to do so) tells me not to get out my car, he is not handcuffing me. He is forbidding me to leave my vehicle.

If you wish to manufacture your own paraphrase or change God’s Word to conform to your beliefs, you are free to do so, but to claim your paraphrase equals the Word of God has no legitimate justification.

I’d rather say what the Bible says – Jesus forbade the demons to speak (Mark 1:34). He didn’t bind them with chains, ropes, or anything else as the people had done with the Gadarene demoniac (Mark 5:2-4). Incidentally, in this exorcism, Christ did allow the demons to speak.

Let’s say what the Bible says:
    – Jesus cast out demons (Matt. 8:16; 9:33; and many others)
    – Jesus rebuked demons (Matt. 17:18; Luke 4:35; and others)
    – Jesus healed some who were demonized (Matt. 4:24)
    – Jesus sometimes told the demons to be quiet (Mark 1:34) and sometimes allowed them to converse (Mark 5:9-13)
    – Jesus told His disciples to CAST OUT demons – not bind them (Matt. 10:8; Mark 16:17)

Once again, nowhere in Scripture will you find anyone binding demons or being told to bind them. This is a very deep-rooted practice of some Christians, but it has no legitimate basis in the Bible.

Any time I have seen Christians using this method, it more accurately resembles a mantra or occultic/magic spell. Just say these words and it has to work – or if you prefer – the way to get rid of demons is to bind them first (follow the right formula to be able to do it). NO! It is done by the authority Christ gives to one by the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Incidentally, I have cast out demons and I have done so by casting them out – not by binding them.

    God bless,

  135. Child of the King Jan 30th 2012

Andrew, you once explained that in the Old Testament (under old covenant) God showered His children with material blessings to show others that they were His. In the New Testament it is not about material blessings anymore, but spiritual blessings – its a new dispensation where we have God’s Spirit! The main fruit of the Spirit is God’s love for others – by this the world will know we are His beloved disciples, not by material wealth. Yes, God does also provide in all my material needs as he promised in Matthew 6:33.

  136. Wayne, maybe Traveler was talking about what Jesus said to His disciples in Matthew 18:18?

“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

The question is did Jesus give this authority only to His apostles in the first century? or is this for all believers for all time? And what did Jesus mean when He said, ‘whatever you bind’…?

Also can a demon actually be bound by us? I know that we cannot bind Satan that’s for sure and we most certainly hear many saying ‘to bind Satan in the name of Jesus’, that is definitely error.

I also agree that there is no example that I see, where Jesus or the apostles actually bound a demon, in every recorded instance I see, the demons were cast out by their word, and in Paul’s case God worked through him causing handkerchiefs that touched him to heal the sick and cast out demons.

    Acts 19:11-12

“Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.”

And on the topic of false teachers etc.., Jesus said ‘every plant that the Heavenly Father has not planted WILL BE UPROOTED! It’s just a matter of time.

  137. Demons come out by the power of God, i have seen them leave without even having to command them. I’m sure I have still have a lot to learn, but to me the things of the Spirit are not a matter of method and formula, some come out by prayer/fasting, some by the mere presence of the Holy Spirit, and there is the excellent example that Tyrone gave regarding the handkerchiefs where no command was needed then either. Bottom line is that the Spirit of God knows what He wants to do with any particular case.

I believe it’s actually presumption to cast out demons without the leading of the Holy Spirit, just like it’s presumption to prophesy at one’s own will rather than the will of the Father…this is really the harlot church trying to cover up her nakedness.

  138. Michelle Jan 30th 2012

So the information will be held back for the rest of the body of Christ to see.

When they need this the most, and not know it, it will not be because of those who have tried to make it available.

  139. Mum, I agree with your comment, we must be led by the Spirit to do the will of the Father in every situation, not just casting out demons.

Michelle, the word of God tells us those who have the anointing in them do not need anyone to teach them, but the Spirit Of Truth, teaches them ALL things.

    1st John 2:26-27

“These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”

Nothing will be hidden from the body of Christ, the mystery of the kingdom of God is revealed to those who are chosen by Him, and the five ministry offices impart the truth and knowledge of Christ to His body for the perfecting of the saints. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

  140. Yes, MUM, I agree that demons can only be cast out by the power of God’s Spirit. It is only the Holy Spirit who can reveal to a Christian that a particular person is demonized and needs deliverance.

I also agree that the methods God leads one to use can be very unique. Nothing, however, will disagree with God’s written Word if it is of the Holy Spirit.

What I was speaking against is what I have often witnessed within the realm of charismatic Christianity where the “binding of demons” is often treated as some sort of magic wand or “magic words” that must be used to do an exorcism.

I am well aware of the arguments used to support such beliefs, but I have not found any legitimate Biblical support for them.

Regarding Matthew 18:18, TYRONE, we must take Christ’s statement in context. On both sides of Christ’s statement of “binding” and “loosing” there is discussion about what to do when sinning occurs between brothers (or sisters) in Christ.
In that context, it would be a perversion of the Word to make a claim that this somehow refers to demons – unless you could somehow establish that any time someone sins against another such action is demonically inspired. (I think one would really have to twist Scripture to back that theory).

Taking it in context, I think the more obvious interpretation to Matthew 18:18 is that it relates to church discipline of a wayward Christian – especially in relation to their rejection of (or submission to) the truth.

    God bless,

  141. To those supporting the prosperity “gospel”:

Take time out from listening to your favoured preachers and stop quoting select verses that you’ve learned from those preachers.

Spend time searching ALL OF scripture for YOURSELF instead of making do with a handful of verses fed to you by others.

Those teachers you favour are are most likely quoting what they themselves have picked up from their own favoured preachers.

    Be honest with yourself.
Who do you want to serve? Who do you want to follow?

    God or your favoured teachers?

  142. Wayne, thanks for the reply, I just spent about an hour or so studying that out because like many I believed it had something to do with ‘binding and loosing demons’ etc.. but I can clearly see now that it does not and I have learned something new today, praise the Lord!

I also repented for the times I did use that phrase, ‘I bind you demon in the name of Jesus’, I was speaking from a lack of understanding of the scripture. Thanks again for the clarification. I will also study out the strong man scripture as well, I want to understand what Jesus was actually saying there.

  143. Sheeja John Jan 30th 2012

There is a lack of understanding among the Christians with regard to ‘salvation’, ‘sanctification’, ‘the Church’, ‘water baptism’, ‘baptism of the Holy Spirit’, ‘anointing’, ‘operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit’ and the end-time scenario; the cause of all confusion and arguments. The reason for their lack of knowledge and understanding is the fact that they are not truly born-again. Those who are born of God know and understand the ‘Truth’. The following Scriptures testify to this fact:
    • No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him… It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. – John 6:44-45
    • And He said, “Therefore, I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” – John 6:65
    • John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.” – John 3:27
According to the New Covenant, God’s law is put in our mind and is written on our hearts, so no one needs to teach his brother saying, ‘Know the Lord’. For God says, ‘they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them’. – Ref. Jeremiah 31:33-34. We read in Scripture the following:
    • And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. – Luke 24:45
    • And He said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, so that, ‘seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand; lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them.’ ” – Mark 4:11-12
    • But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. – John 2 :20
    • But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. – John 2:27
Each of us is going through a series of litmus test to prove our person. As the litmus paper only reveals, whether, the given solution is acid or base and does not turn the solution into acid or into base; similarly, all that we are permitted to go through testifies to the fact, who we really are: Are we truly born of God or are we faking. Let each of us therefore, prayerfully come before the throne of grace and mercy and plead that we are found in Him; and let the Spirit of God witness to our spirit that we are the children of the Almighty God. Those things that does not attest to the truth must be discarded that we may have time to think about those things that are true, noble just, pure, lovely and of good report.
I also like to emphasize that none of us have the right to speak or declare things in our own authority including apostle Paul. Christ Jesus confessed,
    • “For I HAVE NOT SPOKEN ON MY OWN AUTHORITY, but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. – John 12:49
    • However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for HE WILL NOT SPEAK ON HIS OWN AUTHORITY, but whatever He hears He will spek; and He will tell you things to come. – John 16:13
However, Bible records apostle Paul declaring things on his own, which is forbidden. For e.g.
    • And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. – 1 Timothy 2:12
    • But to the rest I, not the Lord say….. – 1 Corinthians 7:12
Discernment to distinguish the truth from the error comes from God.

    In Christ Jesus,
    Sheeja John

  144. Traveler Jan 30th 2012

Pastor Wayne, you have failed to understand what was said in this context.

First we are dealing with the promotion of a false gospel that deals with prosperity. Now why has this false gospel taken hold in the churches?

It has taken root because deceiving demons have built up a stronghold. Now how do you intend to tear down that stronghold. Are you going to try and cast the demon of prosperity out of every member of that church. They are not possessed, they are deceived. If you try and tell them they have it all wrong they will not listen because the deception is strong upon them so what are you going to do?

The answer is you bind the powers and principalities that are in operation over that church so that they are held back from promoting their deception and then you do what Jesus said, you plunder their stronghold and explain to the deceived why they are deceived and what the scriptures really teach while they are free to listen and consider your words without the demons opposing what you are telling them.

What Jesus is quoted as saying in those verses I gave is applicable to this situation, it should be obvious to all, now can you please try and get your religiosity under control.

And if that is all the information you have dug up for Rimmon then you haven’t dug very deep have you. Others tried to post the links last night but all they got back was the message awaiting moderation and their post still has not been posted so it looks like you have to do your own research because you are not going to get it here.

  145. Traveler Jan 30th 2012

Actually I just couldn’t resist this after Waynes comments. Shouldn’t be provoked I know but what the heck. My turn for a bit of fun.

The explanation regarding spiritual authority being likened to the authority of a policeman was in fact a concept that I introduced on the forums some time back that has obviously worked its way around and is now being flaunted as something new. I get ridden down but they use my own terminology and comparison and teachings to do it.

So I went looking for any old posts of mine that contained the comparison. I managed to find one at

Its found in the bottom half of the post

For some reason the concept of authority is not often understood now days. Authority is not the same as power. Authority is being granted the rights to operate in the name of another’s power. A policeman has authority. That authority has force behind it because it is backed by the power found in the institutions of the state. If you wish to defy the authority of the policeman then you have to be able to defy the power of the state that granted him that authority as well.

  146. Traveler Jan 30th 2012

Here I found another reference going back to 09. The second post in this thread

This verse makes it quite clear that you are to stand in his might, That is the strength of Christ, not your own or you end up falling. As the servant of Christ you are able to operate in his authority because he is the one you are representing and he is the one backing you. Kind of like how a policeman operates under the states authority and you obey because if you do not you have to take on the powers of the state. As a servant of Christ you are under his authority and able to operate in his name when looking out for his business. But your personal business is your concern.

  147. I am the Peter which Graham has mentioned and I did post my comments with links about the WoF Movement and its proponents. Why my comments were removed I do not know. No one had to courtesy to say why. I thought this web site would allow my comments to be viewed as they are valid and important and for believers to make up their own minds on biblical matters and issues.

These are the scriptures that were given…

These are the links that were given…

    This concerns Nigeria

This is what is happening in the African country called Ghana

This song reflects on the WoF prosperity teachers

This link reveals those at the helm of the WoF Movement (and who appear regularly and dominate tv christian channels) in America.

This is what WoF leader Joel Osteen said last week about Mitt Romney ( a candidate for the presidency of the White House) who is a member of the cult called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

This is what Justin Peters, who is respected in the Body of Christ, has to say about the Word of Faith Prosperity Gospel.

I hope this clarifies to situation and if my message is removed without giving any reasons why, then censorship has been applied which is a dangerous precedent for the web site and further comments.

    Yours in Christ

  148. Graham Jan 30th 2012

Thanks Peter for what you said. Very much appreciated and I hope believers will take a glimpse if removed without reason.
Noticed what Justin Peters said about the Word of Faith Porsperity Gospel, and the disturbing element that Ghana, as well as Nigeria, has been targeted by the leaders of the Word of Faith Movement.
They have become a law unto themselves with each supporting one another ministries. This has been seen at Morris Cerullo’s world conferences held in the USA whereby WoF leaders have been embracing one another on stage.
Deception is ripe within the modern 21st century church, and its appears that anything goes in using the name of Jesus.
These are the End Times with more of this to come and taking root in churches throughout the globe.
Lets get back to basics in preaching the Good News in our home towns, cities, and countries. For repentance brings revival which is so lacking.
The Lord Jesus is coming soon!

Interesting discussion on authority (exousia) and power (dunamis). “Authority over all the power of the enemy”. I encourage a thorough reading and study of these two words, including ALL the definitions of the root words in order to make a complete picture. Couple this with what you have seen, and the testimonies of what you have not yet seen, should provide a clearer understanding of how the authority and the power work together. For me it answered the question of why I experienced seeing demons flee without the utterance of any words whatsoever. “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” (Proverbs 25:2)

  150. Ibelieve Jan 30th 2012

    Very Sad.

I don’t understand why everyone accuses the ministers here in the US, as responsible when men from Germany are the ones who minister regularly in Nigeria, more then american ministers??

  151. Michelle Jan 30th 2012

    Ibelieve, It started in America:

The early Pentecostal Movement did not embrace prosperity theology.[16] A recognizable form of the doctrine began to take shape within the movement during the 1940s and 1950s, through the teachings of Pentecostal deliverance and healing evangelists. Combining prosperity teaching with revivalism and faith healing, these evangelists taught “the laws of faith (‘ask and ye shall receive’) and the laws of divine reciprocity (‘give and it will be given back unto you’)”.[17]

One prominent early figure in prosperity theology was E. W. Kenyon, educated in the 1890s at Emerson College of Oratory, where he was exposed to the New Thought movement.[18] Kenyon later became connected with well-known Pentecostal leaders and wrote about supernatural revelation and positive declarations. His writing influenced leaders of the nascent prosperity movement during the post-war American healing revival.[19]

Oral Roberts began teaching prosperity theology in 1947.[11] He explained the laws of faith as a “blessing pact” in which God would return donations “seven fold”,[20] promising that donors would receive back from unexpected sources the money they donated to him. Roberts offered to return any donation that did not lead to an equivalent unexpected payment.[11] In the 1970s, Roberts characterized his blessing pact teaching as the “seed faith” doctrine: donations were a form of “seed” which would grow in value and be returned to the donor.[20][21] Roberts began recruiting “partners”, wealthy donors who received exclusive conference invitations and ministry access in exchange for support.[22]

In 1953, faith healer A. A. Allen published The Secret to Scriptural Financial Success and promoted merchandise such as prayer cloths, anointed with “miracle oil” and “miracle tent shavings”.[23] In the late 1950s, Allen increasingly focused on prosperity. He taught that faith could miraculously solve financial problems and claimed to have had a miraculous experience in which God supernaturally changed one-dollar bills into twenty-dollar bills to allow him to pay his debts.[24] Allen taught the “word of faith”, or the power to speak something into being.[23]

In the 1960s, prosperity became a primary focus in healing revivals.[25] T. L. Osborn began emphasizing prosperity in the 1960s and became known for his often ostentatious displays of personal wealth.[26] During that decade, Roberts and William Branham criticized other prosperity ministries, arguing that their fund-raising tactics unfairly pressured attendees. These tactics were prompted in part by the expense of developing nationwide radio networks and campaign schedules.[25] At the same time, leaders of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God denomination often criticized the focus on prosperity taken by independent healing evangelists.[27]

May God Bless Seyi Rhodes for the work he’s doing to expose this deception, stand up to it and show it to the world. I pray the Lord will open doors for him and keep him protected and that he continues to press in. That those he speaks to will hear the truth… that God will remove the scales from their eyes, soften their hard hearts and they turn from their ways.

  153. Andrew Jan 31st 2012

Yes – sadly it has been America that originated a lot of this Prosperity teaching – and spread it around the world via Television. But after that, other nations grabbed hold of it and now preach it even more aggressively. Much of Africa, South America and parts of Asia (eg. Singapore) are now exporting it everywhere in their own regions.

    Just awful.

The world needs a “Great Depression” just to have a chance of getting rid of it.

    Bless you!

    Andrew Strom.

  154. Michelle Jan 31st 2012

Isa 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

Many of these demon names are used in the occult. When Christians take a back seat in prayer, then these things will happen right in the church.

  155. Luke 11:14-22 clarifies who the strongman is (satan) and the one who is stronger than him and overcomes him (Jesus).

“And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled. But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

Others, testing Him, sought from Him a sign from heaven. But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils. He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.”

    Intervarsity Press Commentary from BibleGateway

“The parable that follows in verses 21-23 shows that this cosmic struggle is the point and that the miracles provide evidence for Satan’s defeat. The strong man in the palace at the parable’s start is Satan. But someone stronger than he comes and overpowers him, takes his armor and divides the spoil.

Here is the ultimate cosmic war. Jesus and Satan stand toe to toe in battle. The miracles are an audiovisual that Satan’s cause is ultimately lost. He can do great damage, as any enemy can; but the die is cast. He will lose. The picture of the “stronger one” alludes back to 3:15-16. The stronger one is the promised Messiah who brings fire and the Spirit. The dividing of the spoil recalls the imagery of Isaiah 53:12 (see also Is 49:25-26). Jesus’ work means that Satan is no longer in control of the palace.”

  156. Michelle Jan 31st 2012

God works through our prayers. He does not have to, but he does.

He instructs to know the enemy. Not in order to fall into satan’s schemes, but to be aware of them.

2Co 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

    Devices mean this:

From G3539; a perception, that is, purpose, or (by implication) the intellect, disposition, itself: – device, mind, thought.

  157. Traveler Jan 31st 2012

TyronePalmer has the correct understanding of this, listen to him in this specific matter.

I praise God that you took the time to actually study the passage diligently and that the Holy Spirit showed you the truth. We need to make the Truth of God’ Word our standard for all Truth and authority for faith and practice.

TRAVELER said: “First we are dealing with the promotion of a false gospel that deals with prosperity. Now why has this false gospel taken hold in the churches?

“It has taken root because deceiving demons have built up a stronghold. . .

“The answer is you bind the powers and principalities that are in operation over that church so that they are held back from promoting their deception and then you do what Jesus said, you plunder their stronghold and explain to the deceived why they are deceived and what the scriptures really teach while they are free to listen and consider your words without the demons opposing what you are telling them.”

WOW! I can just imagine how surprised Christ and Paul will be when they find out that if they’d only followed your philosophy they could have done things so much better and got so many more people saved!

It’s too bad Christ didn’t know He could’ve bound the demons blinding the Pharisees and the Sanhedrin, then when He preached the Gospel they would’ve all followed Him

And poor Apostle Paul! He could’ve avoided all those beatings, stonings, etc. if only he’d known your philosophy. He could have bound all those demonic principalities – especially the ones behind those Judaizers who were leading so many Christians astray.

Or more on topic, the demonic power behind those Christians who “desire[d] to be rich [and fell] into a temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (1 Timothy 6:9,10)

And poor Christ – He wouldn’t have had to waste all that time and effort giving the parable of the sower (Mark 4:3-20). He would have known better than to “mistakenly” think that some believers were like seed sown amongst thorns which represented those where “the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” (v.19).

You can straighten them out with your unScriptural philosophy – if you ever get the chance to see them .

If what you said is true, then why don’t you simply bind all those demons behind all these deceived Christians and get them all back on track.

    How’s that working for you?

Or maybe you could abandon the unScriptural philosophies you’ve allowed yourself to be deceived by and begin by finding out what Scripture says about these things. I asked you to show me Scriptures which legitimately taught what you teach. Instead, you just quote more of your unScriptural philosophy and how you assume it works.

Methinks the one accusing of religiosity knows it best.

Also, if you truly have any legitimate information showing that Rimmon was anything other than the Syrian god of wind, rain, and storm – or representing the fruit pomegranate – or the names of cities or certain families – then I will gladly look at it. You can send the info or links to my email – [email protected].

My suggestion is that your time would better be spent diligently studying God’s Word to see what it actually does say about what’s behind the prosperity Gospel and what the true Gospel is.

    God bless,

  159. TYRONE:
Just to clarify – my last comments to you were in regard to Matthew 18:18, not Luke 11:14-22.

I see you based your conclusions upon a commentary – someone else’s idea of what that particular passage of Scripture means.

I can refer you to other commentaries which have a different view.

I have found no evidence that what Christ says here supports Traveler’s philosophy, so I have to wonder why he is in favour of your commentary’s interpretation.

    God bless,

  160. Andrew,

Can you kindly email a phone number, my emails do not seem to be getting through to you.

As a Nigerian who was born in Nigeria but living in the U.S., I can both say that Seyi Rhodes’ reporting is right on and that I’m appalled and grieved by this version of Nigerian Christianity (and totally disapprove of it), these people of mine. The prosperity gospel in Nigeria and among Nigerians is much more apparent than anywhere else I’ve been. I walked into a Nigerian church here in the States once and was distressed when it became evident that there was no trickle even of Grace (or ‘God at work’) there. I look forward to the total renovation of the false concepts of Nigerian Christianity and the transformation of the average Nigerian Christian’s mindset which is usually ruled by Nigerian customs more than by the mind of Christ; and these transformations of heart and mind through Heaven-sent repentance (revival) which always works from the inside out.

  162. Traveler Jan 31st 2012

Actually wayne, if its all the same to you I will stick with the tried and tested in the field. I have seen riots and military confrontations brought to an almost instantaneous halt while in full swing by applying what the scriptures reveal as well as witness how receptive people are to the gospel when the worlds influence over them is pushed back by prayer in this manner.

Why would I settle for an armchair philosophy concerning the application of this authority when the acid test of work in the field reveals what the Lord honours while all you give is just a doctrine that only looks at selective examples while ignoring the rest.

Jesus knew exactly what he was talking about and it is what he revealed through his teachings that are applied. You come out all sarcastic and suggest that I am the one to teach Christ a thing or two when it is obvious that it is happening the other way around. Just where do you think the understanding is coming from if not from the teachings of Christ and the early Apostles as recorded in the scriptures. You just point to the work examples but you ignore the explanations and teachings that are discussed in the other passages as if they are not there.

  163. timothy l agee sr Jan 31st 2012

Dear Hearts, my prayer is that all of us who have been truly redeemed by blood of our precious Savior the Lord Jesus Christ and are saved because of His grace (for we are all sinners saved by His grace), continue in His love and in His will; this by remaining ourselves faithful and true to Him as indidviduals and as His called out chosen people, living and walking in the Spirit, laying down our lives for Jesus daily (in like fashion as He laid down His life for us) so that we ourselves won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh!. The unrighteous ultimate end and total destruction is already sealed! Jesus Himself, told us what will become of the unsaved, so we marvel not; especially since the Savior told us by His word that this time would come, and these events would be happening in the world. How God’s wrath is not just slated for the apostate church, but for anyone who rejects Jesus, and rejection of Him can also come by disbelief in His word. Those who preach any other gospel other than the true gospel which the Savior will only entrust and give’s to His servants, are not Christ’s anyway, He never knew them! And so He never called them nor sent them. They serve and worship familar spirits, whom appear to them as Jesus Christ, whom they never knew (for many spirits have gone out into the world) and those whom are decieved themselves (by satan, for satan transforms himself into a angel of light) lead others into the deception and they all (or both) fall into a ditch! The reason why this will happen often is because sinful man loves darkness rather than he do light. Sinful man that loves darkness are carnal minded and seek only to please the flesh and care nothing at all concerning the soul. Evenso among them, are lost souls whom Christ is calling out of darkness into His marvelous Light! For other sheep have Jesus who are not of this fold, them also He must bring, The Master leaves the flock of ninety-nine to go out and find that one lost soul! Yes let us always stand up for righteousness! Preach the true word of God, not only in word but by the demonstration of the power of the Holy Gost (Holy Spirit, the Spirt of Truth), whom the world cannot see. Remember dear hearts, whenever we preach Christ, the gospel, persecution will come. But it isn’t about us, it isn’t about the unrighteous, It’s about Jesus Christ, following Him whereever His Spirit may lead us. Hearing only His voice, not the strangers! Let us love Him with all our hearts mind and souls. My prayer is that your hope, love, joy and faith remains unmoveable and stedfast in Jesus dear hearts, let us pray for one another, hate the devil! do good unto all mankind. Love oneanother unconditionally. Pray always without ceasing!Thank the Lord always for making us overcomers and for the peace He gives us that passes all understanding. Beloved of Christ, please pray for me.

  164. I have been prompted to write and clarify the situation what Graham has expressed. I am the christain journalist which sent a message world wide on the internet regarding the Word of Faith Movement and its leaders. I have been exposing the prosperity teaching for many years and will continue to do so. I consider this doctrine to be false and the methods which the WoF leaders operate by. One one which brings this to light and that word is GREED. What brethren have shared already on this web site, bares witness to this. Exploitaing the christian church has become obvious and this is being done by deception. A similar paradigm can be seen with vast sums of money being paid out to bankers with their huge salaries and bonuses which have become obscene. I will end here for now but here is a copy of my posting was sent out a few weeks ago which brethren have used and forwarded onto members of the Body of Christ.
    Kindly view the links provided.

    Thanks for all the information.

I guess I did not realize it started here and spread around the world. It does give me a clearer picture now on what everyone has been saying and why.

The video on Nigeria was a sad commentary on the fruit it has produced.

    Hi all,
Some fascinating discussions here on the Strong man, casting out devils, Authority and Power.
Tyrone Palmer, I think you summed up the Strong man scenario rather well.

Mum and I believe Jordan have got it right on Authority and Power.
    Authority and Power.
Just like the Policeman who exercises Authority, he may not go out side of his jurisdiction or break the rule book in exercising his authority. He is always answerable to his superior.

God’s rule book shows that we exercise His Authority in the earth WHEN WE FOLLOW HIS (MOMENT BY MOMENT) LEADINGS. Just like Jesus did.
This is called operating by FAITH. or walking by FAITH.
Since …Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Rhema (Spoken or uttered ) Word of God.
The Spoken or uttered Words of God ARE the Holy Spirit leadings of God. – via His unctions, visions or revelations.

And when we obey God’s leadings, He moves with Supernatural Power to do those things He leads us to do ( like casting out a demon in His Name)

TRAVELER desires to help the deceived and I believe this can be done by the Prayer of Faith. A woman once approached Wigglesworth concerning her wayward husband. Wigglesworth asked God what to do. the result was that a handerkerchief was placed under his pillow. The anointing and conviction of God soon put that man straight.

It is important that we know what the Voice of God is. Anyone interested can have a look at my research on this at

    One more note,
Mum is right, there is no human formula to be followed in operating in the things of God. There is only God’s formula. Seek Him and Ask Him what to do at every step. And then follow His Instructions. The important thing is to know what the Voice of God is and how to discern Him accurately.

    David Wilkerson

  169. i’m sorry, Traveler, but what you teach concerning “the binding of demons and principalities” is NOT to be found in the Scriptures.

However, you have now added an additional factor – PRAYER!

Yes, one of the primary weapons of spiritual warfare is prayer. I, too, have seen the spiritual blindness fall from a person’s eyes and their receptivity to the Gospel in response to concentrated prayer. In fact, we have recently seen God break through in the lives of several of my wayward nephews in answer to persistent prayer spanning years.

May I suggest, however, that it is not in response to following a formula of “binding” demonic forces. It is in response to prayer. If you have used the formula, then may I suggest that God honoured His child praying rather than honouring a following of some formula.

Once again, you cannot find even one example in Scripture of the “binding” of demons or demonic forces as you have described it.

If you wish to add the “binding” of demonic forces to your prayers, you are free to do as you wish. If God, in His mercy and grace, answers your prayers INSPITE of any formulas you may use, rather than BECAUSE of your formula, then praise the Lord.

As a pastor and teacher, though, I must be faithful to diligently and rightly dividing the Word of Truth. I will not teach something as Scriptural which Scripture iteself does not teach.

Once again, my observation ot those who use your “formula” is that they depend upon the formula much more than effective and sustained prayer to solve the problem at hand – with the effect that little or nothing of any eternal consequence is accomplished.

When the question “Why?” is asked, the answer is to be found in Scripture that Christ and the apostles never gave us such a formula or example of the teaching you espouse. The examples of prayer, seeking the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, acting in Christ’s “name” (which really means acting as His representative with His authority), and assailing the gates of hell with the spiritual weapons He’s given us as described in the Scripture are the things which He’s given us in Scripture. Not once are we extolled to “bind” demonic forces. It is a teaching with no valid basis in Scripture.

As far as Christ’s parable of the “strong man” goes, Christ does not give us an explanation as to who is who. However, most commentators do believe that the strong man is Satan and that Christ is the one who is stronger. The rest of Scriptural evidence certainly supports this.

While Christ brought victory over the works of Satan at the cross, Satan – at this time – is not “bound.” The Bible reveals that he is still active in this world and that he is the prince of this world. Scripture reveals that Christ’s finished work on the cross will further be effective when Satan is bound for 1000 years (Revelation 20:1-3). The ultimate culmination of Christ’s work on the cross will be seen when Satan is finally bound forever in hell (Revelation 20:7-10).

Anyone who thinks he can “bind” Satan in this life is operating outside the parameters of Scripture and what Scripture reveals about God’s will and purposes. We can, however, assail the gates of hell and see them fall (Matthew 16:18) through prayer and the penetrating power of preaching the Gospel and shining our light by the good works of Christ working through us.

As I said earlier, God may answer the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man – not BECAUSE they may follow the man-made formula of binding demonic forces – but INSPITE of it.

    God bless,

Mat 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Mat 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Mar 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

Mat 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Eph 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

1Pe 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

  172. P.S To Andrew, tis true on the hit and run issue but there again one can engage in the debate by commenting on it to date without having to keep returning to cover new points others add afterwards if that is all ones health allows. Thats what most people are doing anywway as time is limited for most people.

My own site is not set up as a forum for debate so there is no obligation to reply at all. We have to use our time as wisely as possible.

In my experience of forums hardly anyone ever changes their origenal beliefs anyway. Perhaps debate devoid of prayer has only limited value, so it seems to me anyway. The origenal postings tend to affect ones views more though and are a great source of info too.

  173. PPS perhaps people are more open to respond/receive impersonal postings not specifically aimed at them personally? Whereas they may be resistant to receive/respond to those persaonally arguing/debating with their own points. ? The human heart is full of pride and reluctant to admit its own errors.

  174. PPPS When people have space to receive new info and develope their views in private, (so they can then present their more recent picture to others as their own view) then they appear more likely to receive new ideas.

In that light keep up these postings its a great info resource.

PPPPS What has happened to that other good site –

It was an excellent source of info as well but it appears to have sadly been removed from online by its own authors. ?

  175. Hi

This type of teaching comes from the west, the more you give the more you recieve, its all about the man up the front, I have been a christain for over thirty years and many of them have fallen by the way side. Its time for the true people of god to stand up,the ten percent teaching is not fround in the new testiment, I have herd it said that if you dont give ten percent you will be cursed malachi 3. When will all this false teaching end .The Guys right Jesus wouldnt roll up in a hummer . ( maybe its time to give up on church)

  176. Wayne, the truth is what sets us free, and I love the truth!

I quoted Luke 11:14-22 because it gives us a better understanding of what Jesus was saying about the strongman. As I understand it, it’s the same parable from Matthew 18:18, and Mark 3:27

Also, I didn’t come to a conclusion through reading the commentary but through reading the scriptures in Luke 11.

Jesus clearly tells us in scripture that those who believe in Him will ‘cast out demons’ in His name, not bind them. And He gave the apostles power to ‘cast out demons’, which we know is different from ‘bind them’.

  177. The bible (N/T) doesnt even teach that we should tithe, it is part of the O/T law which Galacians tells us not to follow, that being legalism for a Christian. According to my concordance tithing is only mentioned once in the N/T when Jesus criticised the Pharisies for tithing 10% of their herbs but neglecting the more important things.

  178. TITHING: Paul told the Corimnthian church to save up over time to give an offering for the Christians in Jerusalem (if i remember rightly), out of what each set in his heart to give. Tithing as a Christian is not a biblical teaching at all, (see above).

  180. Possibly – tithing seems to have led to 10% blessing teaching outside of the law – leading to the sowing and reaping prosperity distortions of N/T scripture – a curse that many believe is linked to lukewarmess and then an openness to deception such as the Toronto manifestations etc.

  181. THE CURSE OF TITHING – maybe – the bibles emphasis on helping the poor is changed to telling them to give 10% of their resources away instead which displeases God – those that tithe gain nothing as they are trusting in legalism for this instead of trusting in Gods grace to meet their financial and other needs – the propserity preachers supp up the churches resources instead and aquire mansions, rolls royces and aeroplanes for their own private use – their materialistic attitude and claims to be blessed by God leads other Christians astray into materialism – this leads to the spread of worldly lukewarmness that may well be the inroad that has led to the spread of deception in the church the past few decades, Toronto plus…?

  182. Traveler Feb 1st 2012

This has to be considered under the covenant of the specific nation it was intended for

Mal 3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Mal 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

Under the old covenant that was made only between the nation of Israel and God, the Tribe of Levi was not given any land as their inheritance. They were made a tribe of priests so as to serve the other eleven tribes in the duty of the temple. The other tribes were required to support them by means of the tithes. This was a specific order set up for this specific nation.

Under new testament settings the church is central to the community as in the gathering point and one is expected to render assistance to their community through the church so as to be a witness for the gospel. It was never intended to make the preachers over the church body more wealthy than the congregation. It was intended to help the members of the congregation that needed it like the widows and the orphans and elderly.

Unfortunately con men saw an easy score and started to become Christ sellers rather than brush salesmen because the returns were better. The widows and orphans and elderly just got left out the loop.

Put your pastor to the test and give him the name of a widow out of luck that needs help and watch what happens. You will see soon enough if your gifts and offerings are going to the right place or not.

The tithe as under the law is not new testament but the gifts and voluntary offerings is still applicable where it is given in the name of the Lord to those that are in need. It does not have to go through the church organization but it should be given in the name of the Lord.
